Total Hip Registry
OsteoarthritisObjective Describe the clinical and demographic characteristics of patients who undergo hip arthroplasty and document post operative outcomes. Examine the relationship between processes of care, hospital and surgeon associated outcomes Provide expanded data to characterize existing and evolving practice patterns, delivery of care, and resource utilization in the management of knee arthroplasty patients. Analyze and design ancillary studies to address unanswered questions. Disseminate findings through publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Wrist Cartilage - High Resolution in Vivo MR T2 Mapping- a Feasibility Study
OsteoarthritisPurpose:Evaluate the feasibility of T2 cartilage mapping on MRI of the wrist and correlate with T2 mapping of knee cartilage. Study protocol: Phase 1. 10 healthy volunteers, Phase 2. 10 volunteers with osteoarthritis of the wrist, Phase 3. 50 patients for studies for routine MR of the wrist. MRI protocol: 3 T unit((Signa EXITE HDx),T1, T2 and T2 mapping sequences on axial and coronal orientation.
Measurement of Gait Spatio-Temporal Characteristics in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients
Knee OsteoarthritisThe purpose of the study is to evaluate the gait spatio-temporal parameters of patients with degenerative changes in the knee joint and to relate them with 2 questionares (WOMAC and SF-36).
Osteoarthritis Bedside Testing Kit
OsteoarthritisDevelop and test a bedside testing kit for evaluating pain and symptoms of osteoarthritis
Validation of Consumer Activity Monitors in Postoperative Total Arthroplasty Patients
Arthropathy of KneeArthritis Knee2 moreMobilization and rehabilitation are essential components of a successful functional recovery following total hip and knee arthroplasties. Currently, we have no good measure of how mobile patients are after their surgery. Recent technological advances in personal activity monitors, such as the Fitbit, might provide medical providers and patients the opportunity to more objectively monitor their postoperative mobility and recovery course. However, these consumer activity monitors have yet to be validated in terms of their accuracy and utility for monitoring mobility in the immediate postoperative setting in arthroplasty patients. Our goal is to validate one of the most popular consumer activity monitors, the Fitbit Zip, in the postoperative total joint arthroplasty patient population.
Clinical Outcomes in Shoulder Hemi-arthroplasty Using a PyC Spherical Interpositional Implant
LocalizedPrimary Osteoarthritis3 moreThe INSPYRE implant is a new range of shoulder hemi-arthroplasty device. It consists of a Pyrocarbon spherical interpositional implant and is indicated in primary surgery to relieve severe pain or significant disability caused by degenerative pathologies. The rotator cuff must be functional. The aim of this study is to prospectively collect data from consecutive series to implement a Post Marketing Surveillance plan.
Single Cutting Guides System for the Installation of a Total Knee Replacement
Knee OsteoarthritisThe knee prosthesis is a validated treatment for end-stage of knee osteoarthritis, and this intervention usually provides a significant improvement in the quality of life of patients. However, a significant percentage of patients (up to 30%) are disappointed with the outcome of the intervention. One hypothesis that could explain these poor results might be the poor positioning of implants. Individual cutting guides are produced after a CT scan response planning carried out according to the CT scan anatomy of each patient, and subsequently adapted to its real anatomy during surgery, thus theoretically better accuracy of the implementation over conventional techniques. It has been shown in the past that the navigation has been the gold standard in measuring the three-dimensional orientation of the implants during surgery, and this system is systematically used in the service for over 10 years.
"Score Infectivity" During Reoperation on Total Hip or Knee Prosthesis
OsteoarthritisThe hip or knee is a validated treatment of end-stage osteoarthritis, and these interventions commonly make a significant improvement in the quality of life of patients. Infection can occur in 1-5% of cases. Diagnosis is often difficult, but the knowledge of infected or not infected character directly influences the surgical conduct. It is therefore recommended that the positive or negative diagnosis is made in the most reliable way possible, but no single element only allows a low diagnosis. The concomitant use of several clinical, radiological and aggregated into a composite score history could help facilitate this preoperative approach during reoperation on prosthetic joint
The Assessment of Postoperative Recovery in Elder Diabetic Patients
AnesthesiaKnee OsteoarthritisTotal Knee Replacement (TKR) performed under general anesthesia is a common successful orthopedic procedure. Nonetheless, in elder patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) this procedure can present unique challenges to orthopedic surgeon and anesthesiologist alike. Many diabetic patients have clinical or subclinical neuropathy. Although there is no evidence that the neuropathy is exacerbated by neural blockade, recent studies have suggested that the peripheral nerves in diabetic patients may be more susceptible to trauma and local anaesthetic toxicity. Therefore, The investigators observe peripheral nerve blocks with ropivacaine on diabetic patients or non-diabetic patients undergoing TKR by assessing the management of intraoperation and the Postoperative Recovery and complications.
Investigation of Oxidative Markers and Antioxidant Defense in Female Patients With Osteoarthritis...
OsteoarthritisOsteoarthritis has a multifactorial etiology: aging, genetic, sex, weight, alimentation, injuries, infections etc. The objective of the study is to investigate the eating behaviour of the patients included in the study by using a semiquantitative questionnaire (frequency and quantity) by estimating the foods that are known to be protective for osteoarthritis (vegetables, fruits, cereals) as the ones that are considered risk factors (meat origin, refined fats). Also, the oxidative-antioxidative balance will be evaluated by determining markers: oxidated glutathione/reducted glutathione, catalase enzyme, superoxide dismutase, glutathion peroxidase and malonyldialdehyde.
