The Effect of Effervescent Alendronate on Bone Turnover
Osteopenia or Osteoporosis64 postmenopausal women are randomized to treatment with either effervescent and buffered alendronate or conventional alendronate -both 70mg weekly for 16 weeks to see if bone turnover is suppressed to the same extent as in the conventional formulation with the effervescent form.
Safety and Tolerability of Intravenous LLP2A-Alendronate for Osteopenia Secondary to Glucocorticoids...
OsteopeniaOsteoporosis1 moreA Phase 1 Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Single and Multiple Ascending Dose Study of the Safety and Tolerability of Intravenous LLP2A-Alendronate in Adult Men and Women with Osteopenia Secondary to Corticosteroids
PRIOR Study - A Study of Ibandronate (Boniva) in Postmenopausal Women With Osteoporosis or Osteopenia...
Postmenopausal OsteoporosisThe purpose of this study is to evaluate treatment adherence to different regimens of ibandronate in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or osteopenia who are intolerant to daily or weekly alendronate or risedronate therapy due to gastrointestinal (GI) side effects. The anticipated time on study treatment is 12 months, and the target sample size is 517 individuals.
Treatment of Osteopenia With Melatonin
OsteoporosisThe aim of the study is to assess the effect of melatonin treatment in patients with osteopenia on BMD, muscle function, quality of life and calcium homeostasis.
Effect of Intake of Whey Protein in Elderly Osteopenic Patients. Implications for Metabolism and...
OsteopeniaThe aim of this study is to investigate potential metabolic effects of whey protein high in protein and high in leucine(HPHL) compared to soy protein high in protein and low in leucine(HPLL) in osteopenic patients in a randomized controlled intervention study. The investigator hypothesize that HPHL will increase physical function and the ratio muscle mass / fat mass in this condition.
Safety And Tolerability Study Of RN564 In Women With Osteopenia And Healthy Men.
OsteopeniaOsteoporosis1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the safety and tolerability of RN564 in women with osteopenia and healthy men.
Effect of Electromyostimulation on Bone
OsteopeniaSarcopenia1 moreAlthough there is some evidence that whole body electromyostimulation(WB-EMS) affect bone via its acute and longitudinal effects on muscle mass and strength, the corresponding impact on bone density and falls in older adults has not been assessed yet. The investigators hypothesize that WB-EMS significantly affects bone parameters as assessed by DXA, and significantly reduce fall rate and ratio in a cohort of frail elderly women.
A Study of LY2541546 in Women With Low Bone Mineral Density
OsteoporosisThe primary objectives of this study include evaluating the dose response of LY2541546 using bone mineral density (BMD) change from baseline as compared to placebo and evaluating the overall safety and tolerability of LY2541546 following multiple subcutaneous administrations in postmenopausal (PMP) women with low BMD. Following the last dose of study drug, participants will be able to participate in a 12 month extension to collect additional safety and efficacy data (no further treatment will be administered during this extension).
The Effect of Exercise in Postmenopausal Women With Low Bone Density
OsteoporosisOsteopeniaThis clinical trial aims to evaluate the effects of a 12 month gym- and home-based exercise program on bone density and falls risk factors in postmenopausal women with low bone density. It is hypothesised that the exercise program will lead to improvements in bone density and falls risk factors such as balance and muscle strength compared with usual care.
Comparison of Tibolone and Raloxifene on Bone Mineral Density in Osteopenic Postmenopausal Women...
OsteopeniaBoth tibolone and raloxifene have been demonstrated to prevent postmenopausal bone loss. During treatment with tibolone bone mineral density (BMD) of the spine has been shown to be increased between 1.8 and 5.8 % above baseline in two years, depending on the population studied. Since treatments aimed at prevention should ideally be used long-term, compliance with the treatment is crucial. Efficacy of and compliance with the two treatments will be measured and evaluated.
