Effects of Whole-Body Vibration and High Impact Exercises in Postmenopausal Women
OsteoporosisPostmenopausal1 moreWe investigated the effects of whole body vibration (WBV) and high-impact (HI) exercises in postmenopausal women with low bone mineral density. In summary, WBV exercises are effective in preventing bone loss and WBV and HI exercise programs are effective in decreasing fall risk, increasing health-related quality of life and improving depressive symptoms
Pearlium®/Effecti-Cal®, a Novel Formulation of Calcium, Vitamin D and Minerals for Prevention of...
OsteoporosisPostmenopausalPostmenopausal osteoporosis is one of the important medical disorders affecting women after menopause. It is characterized by bone loss and reduced bone strength. In turn, this leads to increased risk of fracture. Bone loss in postmenopausal women occurs when calcium leaks out of the bones. Supplementing calcium and vitamin D is considered as standard prophylactic measures against osteoporosis for postmenopausal women over age 50. Currently, various formulations of calcium salt are under development for the effective supplementation of calcium. Pearlium/Effecti-Cal is a new formulation optimized for high solubility of calcium salt. Formulation A5 (the base formulation of Pearlium/Effecti-Cal) showed three fold higher retention of calcium in rats than calcium carbonate (the most popular calcium supplement). High retention of calcium allowed the reduction of orally administered calcium for the same effect. This can contribute to the reduction of gastrointestinal side effects such as constipation. In postmenopausal women, bone mineral loss is reflected on the elevated level of bone turnover markers. In this study, the efficacy of Pearlium/Effecti-Cal will be assessed by the suppression of bone turnover markers. In addition, the safety of Pearlium/Effecti-Cal will be evaluated with a bowel function diary, which can capture the profile of constipation symptoms. The participants will experience run-in period (two months) for removing the residual effect of previously taken health product on bone turnover. For the following treatment period (six months), one hundred and two participants will be allocated by chance into groups for the treatment of Pearlium/Effecti-Cal or active comparator (conventional calcium supplement).

Phase 2 Study of BA058 (Abaloparatide) Transdermal Delivery in Postmenopausal Women With Osteoporosis...
Post Menopausal OsteoporosisTo determine the clinical safety and efficacy of abaloparatide transdermal in otherwise healthy postmenopausal women with osteoporosis as assessed by changes in bone mineral density (BMD) and serum markers of bone metabolism when compared to transdermal placebo and abaloparatide injection for 6 months of treatment.
A Study of Bonviva/Boniva (Ibandronate) in Biphosphonate-Naïve Women With Post-Menopausal Osteoporosis...
Post Menopausal OsteoporosisThis single arm, open label study will assess the efficacy and safety of and compliance to treatment with Bonviva/Boniva (ibandronate) in biphosphonate-naïve patients with post-menopausal osteoporosis. Patients will receive Bonviva/Boniva at a dose of 3 mg intravenously every three months. Anticipated time on study treatment is 12 months with a follow-up of 12 months.
Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Oral Doses of PTH134 in Post-menopausal...
Post-menopausal OsteoporosisThis study is designed to provide information about the bone-anabolic response of PTH134 when administered orally, in comparison to Forsteo®, the sub-cutaneous form of teriparatide, the active ingredient in PTH134.
Risedronate Sodium in Post Menopausal Osteoporosis
OsteoporosisPostmenopausalThe primary objective is to compare subject satisfaction of once a week dosing of 35 mg Actonel to once daily dosing of 5 mg Actonel in postmenopausal osteoporotic women. The secondary objectives are to measure compliance (50 % drug taken), and persistence, [and urinary NTx (N-telopeptides) (optional)].
ExBonAdAsia Study: A Study of Once Monthly Bonviva (Ibandronate) in Women With Post-Menopausal Osteoporosis....
Post Menopausal OsteoporosisThis single arm study will continue drug safety surveillance, and assessment of adherence, in patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis who have received monthly oral Bonviva in ML19930, the BonAdAsia study. All patients completing 6 months in ML19930 will continue to receive Bonviva (150mg po, monthly) for an additional 6 months. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
SUMMIT Study: A Study of Persistence to Bonviva (Ibandronate) Once Monthly in Women With Post-Menopausal...
Post Menopausal OsteoporosisThis 2 arm study will assess the impact of bone marker feedback, using blood sampling and communication of results at week 5, on persistence to monthly Bonviva (150mg po) in women with post-menopausal osteoporosis. The study will also assess safety, quality of life and patient satisfaction. All patients will receive Bonviva 150mg po monthly, and will be randomized into the bio-feedback or no bio-feedback study arms. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
Long Term Effects of Raloxifene Treatment on Bone Quality
OsteoporosisPost-MenopausalThis is a cross-sectional study to determine, via iliac crest bone biopsies, the effect of long-term treatment with raloxifene on histomorphometry and bone quality in patients who participated in the Continuing Outcomes Relevant to Evista Study.
