Prevalence of Mucosal Biofilm Formations in Adenoidectomy Specimens
Chronic Serous Otitis MediaSimple or UnspecifiedRationale: Bacterial biofilms are defined as an assemblage of bacterial cells enclosed in a self-produced glycocalyx matrix. Adherence on surfaces, and resistance to both antibiotic treatments and host defenses are ones of the major clinical features of bacterial biofilms. Hence, biofilm formations represent a serious clinical problem: they persist in human tissues and play a role in a large number of chronic and resistant infections. It has been estimated that more than 65% of all human bacterial infections involve biofilms. Recently, the investigators have demonstrated the presence of mucosal bacterial biofilms in adenoid tissues removed during routine adenoidectomy. Bacterial biofilms were visualized using Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) with a technique of double staining showing both the bacterial cells and the glycocalyx matrix. Although this study clearly established that adenoids tissues can harbour mucosal biofilms, the prevalence of 54% the investigators found suggested that some groups of children may contain more biofilm formations than others. In an effort to relate the findings of mucosal biofilm with the clinical presentation, the investigators have designed the present work to compare the prevalence of mucosal biofilms in adenoidectomy specimens in two groups: one group of children with chronic otitis media (COM) with effusion versus another group of children without any COM, having adenoids removed for chronic obstruction.
Prevention Recurrent Otitis Media in the Young Children
Otitis MediaThe purpose of this study is to find out if young children have more benefit of the combination of adenotomy and tympanostomy than plain tympanostomy in prevention of recurrent otitis media.

Validity of the French Version of the Quality of Life Questionnaire COMQ12-FR
Chronic Otitis MediaThe World Health Organization estimates that chronic otitis media could reach between 65 and 350 million people worldwide and thus be an important cause of medical consultation and prescription drugs. The medical care of chronic otitis is difficult, despite several medical and surgical treatment options. Moreover this pathology is gladly recurrent. The completion of a standardized questionnaire to track symptoms objectively over time is fundamental to verify the efficacy of specific treatments and to compare treatments. The quality of life measurement questionnaire related to chronic otitis media (COMQ-12) is a new questionnaire, validated in English, to assist the physician in evaluating chronic otitis media. The objective of this study is to translate and validate the test in French in children.
Pharmacokinetic Study of AL-60371 Otic Suspension in Pediatric Subjects Following Tympanostomy Tube...
Otitis MediaThe purpose of this study is to describe the pharmacokinetics of AL-60371 otic suspension following two posologies of bilateral ototopical doses in pediatric subjects immediately after bilateral tympanostomy tube surgery.
Is There Hearing Loss After Acute Mastoiditis
Acute MastoiditisAcute Otitis MediaFollowing acute mastoiditis there is a possible risk to develop hearing loss. The cause could be either possible involvement of the inner ear, or in cases that underwent surgery, secondary to the effect of the drill's noise. Extended hearing test will be performed for 25 children that suffered acute mastoiditis that resolved with conservative treatment and compared with 25 children that needed surgical intervention.
Tegmen Defect Management During Mastoidectomy
Chronic Otitis MediaIn this study, we aimed to discuss our clinical experience on the management of the tegmen defects which were revealed during the mastoidectomy surgeries.

Evaluation of Moderate to Severe Influenza Outcomes in Children
InfluenzaOtitis Media4 moreThe purpose of this study was to determine whether moderate-severe endpoints (including high fever, lower respiratory tract disease, acute otitis media, or serious extra-pulmonary complications) were predictive of hospitalization, intensive care admission, antibiotic use and other complications in children under 8 years of age.
