Ovarian CancerRATIONALE: New diagnostic procedures, such as contrast-enhanced ultrasonography, may be an effective method of finding ovarian cancer. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well contrast-enhanced ultrasonography works in diagnosing early-stage ovarian cancer in patients with an adnexal mass undergoing surgery to remove the ovary.

Hereditary Breast and Ovarian CancerCompared to non-Latina Whites, Latinas have a higher prevalence of BRCA1/2 gene mutations but lower use of genetic cancer risk assessments services (GCRA). This study will develop and assess the impact of a novel culturally targeted media intervention to improve psychosocial outcomes and GCRA use in Latinas at-risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. If the intervention is proven to be effective in a future randomized controlled trial, the intervention can be disseminated to clinics and adapted to other ethnic groups.

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes may affect the body's response to and interaction with some prescription medications. Genes, which are inherited from parents, carry information that determines things such as eye color and blood type. Genes can also influence how patients process and respond to medications. Depending on the genetic makeup, some medications may work faster or slower or produce more or fewer side effects. Pharmacogenomics testing may help doctors learn more about how patients break down and process specific medications based on their genes and improve the quality of life of cancer patients receiving clinical care.

Our proposed trial will be the first study to test whether exercise compared with attention control has a beneficial impact on quality of life, fitness and surrogate markers of ovarian cancer. Our trial could suggest a unique and important role for exercise in ovarian cancer care given that physical and functional aspects of QOL are often the most compromised in ovarian cancer patients.
89Zr-MMOT PET Imaging in Pancreatic and Ovarian Cancer Patients
Ovarian NeoplasmsOvarian Diseases5 moreThe purpose of this multicenter imaging sub study is to evaluate the biodistribution and organ pharmacokinetics of 89Zr-MMOT0530A in patients with unresectable pancreatic or platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. MMOT0530A is a monoclonal antibody that targets an antigen overexpressed in pancreatic and ovarian cancer. Subsequent to imaging with 89Zr-MMOT0530A, patients will be treated with DMOT4039A in the DMO4993g protocol (clinicaltrials.gov identifier NCT01469793) after this study. DMOT4039A is an antibody-drug conjugate composed of the monoclonal antibody MMOT0530A and the mitotic agent monomethyl auristatin (MMAE). By imaging patients with the monoclonal antibody MMOT0530A before treatment, the correlation between tumor uptake of 89Zr-MMOT0530A and response to DMOT4039A therapy will be assessed.

Ovarian Epithelial CancerCarcinoma in Situ1 moreThe current study aims at answering the scientific question, whether exfoliated cells from STICs get transported into the uterine cavity via the fallopian tube, and whether it is possible to detect those cells in the lavage fluid from the uterine cavity and proximal fallopian tubes. To address this question, the investigators will study 20 lavage samples and their 20 corresponding STIC-positive tissue samples in women who opt for risk-reducing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (rrBSO) because of increased risk of high grade serous carcinoma of the pelvis (HGSC) (mostly carrying a BRCA mutation), without a history of tubal occlusion for sterilization. Women who opt to have the fallopian tubes removed but the ovaries preserved are eligible for the study too, as are women who opt for rrBSO plus hysterectomy.
