Blood Spot Self-administered Test and Assay
Dysfunction; EndocrineEffects of Chemotherapy1 moreThe current study will compare hormone levels of AMH, FSH and inhibin B in blood specimens collected by venipuncture and fingerstick in a sample of pre-menopausal women ages 18-45 years with normal menstrual cycles.
Primary Ovarian Insufficiency, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome & the CardiOvascular Risk Profile
Cardiovascular DiseasesThe polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrinopathy amongst women of reproductive age. PCOS is associated with various cardiovascular risk factors such as obesity, glucose intolerance, dyslipidemia hypertension and the metabolic syndrome. Whether these increased cardiovascular risk factors result in the development of actual cardiovascular disease in later life remains to be established. Women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), experience menopause prior to the age of 40 years. Women with POI may exhibit dyslipidemia. A young age at menopause has been previously associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
Dry Eye in Women With Turner Syndrome and Women With Premature Ovarian Failure
Turner SyndromeOvarian Failure4 morePremature ovarian failure (POF) is known to be associated with an increased risk of ocular surface disease (dry eye), likely due to the reduction of both estrogens and androgens seen in this condition. From preliminary data, we suspect that women with Turners syndrome (45, XO), a genetic abnormality that affects sex hormone levels, are also at increased risk of ocular surface disease. Comparing POF and TS women may allow us to distinguish different mechanisms for ocular surface disease, due to the different etiologies of hormonal (estrogen and androgen) alterations posed by POF and TS.
Ovarian Reserve and Matrix Metalloproteinases
Oxidative StressOvarian Insufficiency3 morePrimary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) is dysfunction of ovaries before 40 years of age. It has been reported that genetic factors, endocrine disorders, previous pelvic surgeries, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and autoimmune mechanisms play a role in 10%, however the etiology has not been clarified in 90% of the cases. Oxidative stress and autoimmunity has been shown to be responsible in the etiopathogenesis of POI. Prolidase is an imidodipeptidase. Prolidase was shown to be related with oxidative stress and autoimmune diseases in previous studies. In addition, it is thought that the level of prolidase plays a role both in the etiopathogenesis and progression of diseases. This study aims to investigate the level of prolidase enzyme in women with POI.
Endocan Levels in Women With Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
Premature Ovarian FailureObjective: To evaluate serum endocan levels in women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and to compare the results with those of healthy subjects. Methods: This prospective study included 38 women with idiopathic POI and 39 controls. The blood for analysis was obtained at the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle and serum endocan levels were measured using a commercially available ELISA kit. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol, and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) were measured at the same time. The continuous values were evaluated using Student's t-test, and categorical values were evaluated using the Chi-square test. P values < .05 were accepted as significant.
sFlt- 1, PIGF, and Niacin Levels in Women With Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
Premature Ovarian InsufficiencyAim: To evaluate serum soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1, proangiogenic protein placental growth factor, and niacin levels in women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and to compare the results with those of healthy subjects. Methods: This prospective study will be included 45 women with idiopathic premature ovarian insufficiency and 45 controls. The blood for analysis will be obtained at the early follicular phase of the menstrual cycle and serum soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1, proangiogenic protein placental growth factor, and niacin levels will be measured using a commercially available ELISA kit.

Male InfertilityFemale Infertility3 moreThe purpose of this study is to compare two different strategies to implement the existing Guideline programme on Subfertility, as issued by the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (NVOG). Therefore, an innovative patient-directed strategy will be compared to a control strategy and effectiveness, costs and feasibility of both strategies will be assessed.

Premature Ovarian FailureAutologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal cells will be injected into patients diagnosed with premature ovarian failure
Parental Project and Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
Primary Ovarian InsufficiencyInfertilityOne of the main repercussions of POI is infertility. When the diagnosis of POI is announced, the question of fertility is addressed and the patient is often directed towards egg donation or adoption when she has a parental project. However, there are cases of spontaneous pregnancies after diagnosis. This study was conducted to determine the proportion of patients with POI who were able to realize a parental project after diagnosis in the long term and by what means.
X-Chromosome Inactivation Status and Premature Ovarian Failure
Premature Ovarian FailureWomen who are affected with premature ovarian failure will exhibit skewed X-chromosome inactivation patterns compared to women with normal menstrual function (as defined by being pregnant), indicating a possible X-chromosome defect.
