Oxford Ovarian Cancer Predict Chemotherapy Response 01
Ovarian CancerThe purpose of the study is to understand why there are differences between individuals in the way they respond to paclitaxel chemotherapy.
Prospective Validation and Comparison of Different Ultrasound Methods for Discrimination Between...
Patients With Adnexal Mass Prior to SurgeryThe ability of different methods to discriminate between benign and malignant adnexal masses has been compared in a meta-analysis showing that the IOTA Simple Rules and the IOTA logistic regression model LR2 were superior to RMI and to all other methods for predicting malignancy in an adnexal mass included in the meta-analysis. However, a fair comparison of methods requires them to be applied on the same tumor population. The general objective of this study is to prospectively validate the Simple Rules, ADNEX, the Simple Rules risk model, LR2, and RMI on a large multicenter dataset to allow direct comparison of these tools. IOTA7 is an international multicenter prospective observational study including different types of ultrasound centers and examiners with different levels of ultrasound experience. In total, about 1700 adnexal masses with histological outcome will be included in IOTA 7.
Endometriosis and Frequency of Endometriosis-associated Ovarian Carcinomas (EAOC)
Endometrioid CarcinomaClear Cell Carcinoma1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine whether a relationship exists between a previously established diagnosis of endometriosis and the consecutive risk of developing a clear cell or endometrioid ovarian carcinoma. All histopathological records since 1980 with these diagnoses (endometriosis, clear cell and endometrioid ovarian carcinoma) will be reviewed. Cancer registry data will be assessed to investigate differences in survival of women with endometriosis-associated ovarian carcinomas and those ovarian carcinoma patients without previous diagnosis of endometriosis.
Research Study in Patients With Advanced Ovarian Epithelial Cancer
Ovarian Serous CystadenocarcinomaOvarian Serous Surface Papillary Adenocarcinoma4 moreThis research trial studies tissue samples from patients with ovarian cancer in the laboratory. Analyzing tissue samples from patients in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about cancer.
Prediction of Ovarian Malignancy in the Presence of Sonographic Pelvic Mass
Ovarian NeoplasmThe objective of the study is to create a test that will discriminate between malignant and benign ovarian mass that was diagnosed by ultrasound. The investigators will examine about 800 women and at the end of the study the investigators will combine data from the woman's history, the sonographic characters of the mass and serum biological markers along with the woman's outcome (which means - whether the mass was malignant, benign, or disappeared or remained constant with no intervention).

Expression of Altered Glycosyltransferases, Mucins, and RTKs in Human Ovarian and Endometrial Cancers...
CarcinogenesisOvarian Cancer1 moreTo clarify the critical role of glycosyltransferases, altered Mucins, and RTKs in human ovarian and endometrial neoplasms, the study will examine the immunohistochemical expression profiles of glycosyltransferases, Mucins and receptor tyrosin kinases (RTKs) family in various stages and/or histologic subtypes of human ovarian and endometrial neoplasms and tissue microarrays.
A Genomic Analysis of Evolution of Epithelia Ovarian Tumors
Epithelial Ovarian CancerEpithelial Ovarian Tumor of Borderline Malignancy2 moreEpithelial ovarian carcinomatous and borderline components sometimes appeared in one patient. This study aims to analyze the genomic patterns of the carcinomatous and borderline components in the ovarian epithelial tissues. These tissues will be collected from paraffin section by microdissection to distinguish normal, carcinomatous and borderline tissues.
Data and Specimen Bank of Patients Diagnosed With, and at High-risk for, Gynecologic Cancers
Ovarian CancerThe purpose of this project is to establish a bank at UVa of tampon samples, cervical swabs, blood, associated tumor specimens that would otherwise be discarded, and relevant medical data from consenting patients that have suspected and/or confirmed gynecological cancer diagnoses. The specimens collected will be saved for analysis on future projects to determine if factors in the specimens are predictive and/or correlated to gynecological cancer diagnoses and/or outcomes
Pelvic Microbiomes of Benign and Malignant Ovarian Diseases
MicrobiotaOvarian Neoplasms1 moreThis case-control study aims to compare the pelvic microbiomes of benign ovarian diseases and ovarian malignancies by 16s RNA techniques and culture. Discharges/flushing fluid from vagina, faces and fimbria end of fallopian tube are collected from age and menopausal status matched patient before and during procedures of laparoscopies. The discharges/flushing fluid would be sent for 16s RNA analysis and microculture respectively, and the results would get self-contrasted comparison and case-control comparison.
