Painful Osteoarthritis of the Knee

This is a Phase 2b randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-response study in subjects with painful osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. The study will assess the safety and efficacy of multiple doses of MEDI7352 compared to placebo, as well as the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and immunogenicity of MEDI7352 in subjects with moderate to severe chronic pain persistent for 3 months or more not adequately controlled by standard of care treatments.

Efficacy Study Comparing Compounded Topical Pain Creams vs. Placebo for Treating Pain Symptoms

Pain

The main objective of this protocol is to determine the effectiveness of using compounded topical pain creams for treating neuropathic, nociceptive, or mixed-pain syndromes. Since these compounded pain creams may be associated with burning or irritation at the application site, and possible systemic effects may present, the secondary objective is to determine the relative satisfaction with the creams. The investigators hypothesis is that the active pain creams may provide significant benefit compared to placebo cream. 3.1 Specific Aims Specific Aim 1 will determine pain relief following treatment with the appropriate (based on specified pain) compounded topical pain cream or a placebo cream. The investigators hypothesis is that the compounded topical pain creams will provide greater pain relief than placebo creams. Specific Aim 2 will measure the patient satisfaction with the cream (compound or placebo). The investigators hypothesis is that the compounded topical pain creams will improve patient satisfaction, while the placebo cream will not result in a change in patient satisfaction with their pain treatment.

Pilot Study of Percutaneous Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation for the Treatment of IC/PBS

In 2014, the American Urological Association updated it management algorithm for Interstitial Cystitis/Painful Bladder Syndrome (IC/PBS). As the algorithm progresses, interventions become increasingly invasive and morbid. 4th line treatment is sacral neuromodulation (SNM), involving a two stage surgical procedure and permanent device implantation. While the mechanism for decrease in IC/PBS symptoms is unknown, SNM is thought act through central and peripheral mechanisms related to afferent signaling, causing modification of pain and lower urinary tract sensation.¹ Percutaneous posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) is a method of peripheral neuromodulation targeting the same nerve roots as SNM, but with significantly fewer risks. The purpose of our research is to determine if PTNS is effective in the treatment of IC/PBS. The results of this study will suggest future directions and provide critical information to design studies to determine to what extent and in what situations PTNS may be effective. The investigators will enroll subjects with IC/PBS and urinary frequency/urgency to treatment with 12 weekly treatments of PTNS. The investigators will assess symptoms and lower urinary tract function before, during and after the treatments. At the completion of treatments, subjects will be asked to enroll in post-study follow up monitoring to understand the duration of symptom effect.

This clinical trial studies how well Diode laser fiber type Selective Stimulator (DLss) works in predicting pain development in patients with ovarian cancer who are receiving chemotherapy. Stimulating of the pain nerve fibers in the skin with laser light stimulation may help to predict whether a patient will develop painful peripheral neuropathy, correlate with the severity of neuropathy during and after chemotherapy treatment, and may help to explain the mechanisms of chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CIPN).
