Reoperation After Pancreaticoduodenectomy

Periampullary CarcinomaPancreatic Cancer

The aim of this study is to outline the incidence of early and late reoperation after PD, examine the risk factors for early surgical intervention and its impact on the surgical outcome, hospital stay, diseases recurrence and patient survival, address variable indications for late readmission and reoperation after PD and its impact on patient survival and disease recurrence.

Correlation Between Elastic Modulus of Ultrasonic Shear Wave and Tumor Stromal Component in Pancreatic...

Pancreatic Neoplasms

Pancreatic cancer is a gastrointestinal tumor with a high degree of malignancy. Currently, there are many first-line chemotherapy regimens in clinical practice, but the individual selection of chemotherapy regimens has not been unanimously recognized. This study is aimed at exploring the correlation between the two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D - SWE) parameters and pancreatic cancer stromal elements proportion through an ultrasound scan for resectable pancreatic cancer cases and postoperative pathological specimen analysis. Then determine if the pancreatic cancer two-dimensional shear wave elastography can guide clinicians selecting chemotherapy scheme by predicting tumor stromal elements .These results are expected to provide an effective non-invasive diagnostic basis for individualized treatment of pancreatic cancer.

25G and 22G Puncture Needles

Submucosal TumorPancreas Tumor

The screened patients were randomly assigned 25G puncture needles and 22G puncture needles in a 1;1 ratio, based on the computer-generated random order, before receiving an ultrasound endoscope puncture. Each puncture needle puncture lesions 2 needles, the same type of puncture needle tissue samples taken in the same tissue pathology bottle, all tissues after the completion of the necessary cytological smears, are placed in the Formalin solution to send tissue pathology, pathologists do not know the order of distribution of 2 puncture needles to evaluate the tissue results, all pathology results are reported by the hospital pathology center, audit.

NCI SBIR Contract for Patient Navigation Tool Prototype Development

Pancreas CancerHepatobiliary Cancer1 more

GMG ArcData will create a mobile-based application to improve communications and data exchange among patients and navigators involved in new pancreas surgery oncology episodes of care. Functionality will align with care processes using smartphone and the EHR patient portal. GMG will apply user-centered design theory and behavioral psychology approaches to co-design, develop, and test usability of features that optimize patient navigators-patient encounters on scheduling issues, nutrition guidance, pain management, wellbeing assessments, and activity tracking. Evaluation endpoints will reflect how the application improves the efficiency of workflows and lessens cognitive burden. Study will assess how patients and navigators perceive the tool's ability to provide more control and easier access to information about surgical care. The key project innovations are based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)-based engineering standards that enable interoperability among digital health platforms, apply 'recommender' functions based on similar patients' experiences, and exploit microeducation tools to enhance patient understanding about their surgical care. The research team has partnered with MedStar Health and Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center to co-design the software and access patients for usability testing. Successful implementation will lead to exploring a joint venture for scaling to other care episodes, expanded functionality, and co-creating business models for commercialization.

Dynamic Changes of Sera Immunoglobulin G4 and Interleukin-10 in the Patients of Pancreatic Cancer...

Pancreatic NeoplasmsInflammation

Investigators have previously found that the infiltration of immunoglobulin G4(IgG4) positive plasma cells in tumor tissue predicts a poor prognosis of pancreatic cancer after curative resection. Investigators further attempt to explore the possible roles of IgG4 and the inducer of IgG4, interleukin-10(IL-10), in the chemotherapy of pancreatic cancer. In this primary study, investigators plan to observe the dynamic changes of sera IgG4 and IL-10 in peripheral blood after gemcitabine-based chemotherapy and analyze the correlations of IgG4 and IL-10 with the response of gemcitabine and overall survival of pancreatic cancer.

In Vitro Models of Liver and Pancreatic Cancer

CholangiocarcinomaHepatocellular Carcinoma1 more

The primary objective is to develop an in vitro model of cancer for laboratory study using liver, biliary and pancreatic cancer tissue. The secondary objective is to study the genetic and cellular biology of cancer of the liver, biliary tract and the pancreas. As well the investigators hope to compare molecular and cellular biology of cancer cells with normal cells as well as potentially test the efficacy of current and future anti-cancer therapies. Samples will be collected from tissue that has been resected as part of the treatment for a patient diagnosed with liver, bile duct or pancreas cancer.

Perfusion Assessment With Contrast-Enhanced EUS in Locally Advanced and Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer...

Pancreas Cancer

Patients with non-resectable pancreatic cancer have a poor prognosis. The analysis of prognostic factors before treatment may be helpful in selecting appropriate candidates for chemotherapy and determining treatment strategies. The aim of the PEACE study is to assess the vascularity of pancreatic malignant tumors using contrast-enhanced endoscopic ultrasonography and to clarify the prognostic value of tumor vascularity in patients with locally advanced and metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Study of Genes and Environment in Patients With Cancer in East Anglia, Trent, or West Midlands Regions...

Bladder CancerBrain and Central Nervous System Tumors7 more

RATIONALE: Studying samples of blood from patients with cancer in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about changes that occur in DNA and identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This study is looking at genetic susceptibility to cancer and interactions between genes and the environment in patients with cancer in East Anglia, Trent, or West Midlands of the United Kingdom.

Drug Screening of Pancreatic Cancer Organoids Developed From EUS-FNA Guided Biopsy Tissues

Pancreatic CancerPancreas Adenocarcinoma

We are going to establish "organoid" models from pancreatic cancer biopsies achieved via EUS-FNA. Then the sensitivity of the selected FDA-approved anti-cancer drugs will be tested in these organoids.
