Active clinical trials for "Pancreatic Fistula"

The International Study Group of Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) issued the definition and classification system of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), and received widespread recognition. Currently, it has become an important reference for clinical treatment of POPF.

Distal pancreatectomy is the surgical technique performed to treat many pancreatic diseases located in neck and tail of the pancreas. Laparoscopic approach is the gold standard but in many centres the percentage of laparoscopic approach is still low. This technique has low mortality but 30% morbidity mostly related to pancreatic fistula. Some new devices (linear stapler, energy devices and patches) seem to decrease pancreatic fistula but there is not evidence based medicine that confirm the results published usually in unicentric studies.

Pancreatic fistula (PF) grade C, defined by the International Study Group of Pancreatic Fistula (ISGPF) is associated with a life-threatening complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD). Therefore, The aim of this study is to clarify the risk factors for grade C PF by Japan and Taiwan cooperative project.

The purpose of this study is to assess the value of preoperative objective modalities such as endoscopic ultrasound elastography and magnet resonance imaging in predicting development of postoperative pancreatic fistula in patients undergoing pancreatic surgery for benign or malignant disease.
