ICI-VPH: Impact of HPV Immunisation Schedules Against HPV

Human Papillomavirus Infections

This randomised clinical trial aims to determine whether an immunization schedule comprising two doses of Gardasil administered six months apart is non-inferior to a schedule comprising three doses administered at 0, 6 and 60 months for the prevention of HPV-16 and HPV-18 infections that persist for at least six months, up to ten years after the initial vaccination. The study hypothesis is that the two-dose schedule would offer similar protection as that of a three-dose schedule against persistent HPV-16/18 infections.

Increasing Healthcare Engagement Via Routine Vaccination Among Young Black Men Who Have Sex With...

MeningitisHPV - Anogenital Human Papilloma Virus Infection1 more

Vaccine-preventable diseases such as hepatitis A and meningitis, as well as cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) disproportionately impact young Black men who have sex with men (YBMSM). Traditional techniques of vaccination promotion have been unable to address the racial disparities in vaccination rates. One promising method for influencing behavior change within YBMSM networks is diffusion of information through Popular Opinion Leaders (POLs). The POL model engages persons who are leaders within their own networks/communities to promote behavior change. The objective of this project is to develop and pilot test a POL intervention to increase routine HAV, HPV and meningococcal conjugate vaccination among YBMSM, ages 18-26. research (PAR) framework to facilitate community support and ensure intervention strategies are salient. PAR includes community members as equal collaborators in the research process. Outcomes from these aims are expected to have an impact on health outcomes by identifying effective strategies for increasing vaccination and routine healthcare engagement among YBMSM.

Evaluating the Human Papillomavirus Self-Collection Experience in Individuals Who Have Experienced...

Cervical CarcinomaHuman Papillomavirus Infection

This study explores the human papillomavirus (HPV) self-collection experience among individuals with a history of sexual trauma. Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide and is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women ages 29-39. Despite programs to improve accessibility of cervical cancer screening and overall high screening rates, disparities in routine surveillance have been demonstrated in certain populations, such as victims of intimate partner violence and sexual trauma. One barrier to participating in cervical cancer screening for this population is the office-based visit which necessitates the individual to undress, sit with their legs in stirrups, and undergo speculum examination for specimen collection. This type of visit may cause distress for participants who have experienced sexual violence. HPV self-collection has been studied with favorable outcomes in effectiveness and ease of use. This study evaluates the experience of HPV self-collection among individuals who have experienced sexual trauma.
