Investıgatıon Of The Awareness Of The Parents Of Cerebral Palsy Children
Cerebral PalsyParents3 moreParents of Cerebral Palsy (CP) children participate in treatments, education services and general medical check-ups; They have many responsibilities such as the use of drugs, devices, educational materials. Therefore, involving parents of CP children in the rehabilitation process provides a stronger rehabilitation service for their children. In the studies, it was stated that the active participation of the parents in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation process increases the success rate of the treatment and the participation of the parents plays a key role for the success of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
Incontinence and MRI Results in Children With Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral PalsyLower Urinary Tract SymptomsMore than 50 % of children and adults with cerebral palsy experience lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). This can negatively influence quality of life of the child and the total social environment. Previous research demonstrated that the brain lesion, characteristic for cerebral palsy (CP), is a prognostic factor for the functional abilities of a child with CP. Previous research within our department demonstrated functional impairment as a risk factor for incontinence. This demonstrates an indirect connection between the brain lesion and incontinence of a child with CP. However, this connection isn't alway correct as some children with high functionality also demonstrate incontinence. As bladder control is also regulated by higher brain centers, the present study wants to investigate a direct connection between the brain lesion of the child, visible by means of MRI, and the incontinence status of the child. .
Function and Form Outcomes in Patients With Facial Paralysis
Facial ParalysisBell PalsyThis study will be unique for the rehabilitation of patients with facial paralysis in that the focus is to generate novel 3D facial soft tissue measures to characterize the condition and temporal changes, and on the generation of future testable hypotheses to optimize surgical interventions and outcomes. In addition, the investigators will extend our previous work, beyond the facial circumoral and lip areas/zones, to characterize additional facial zones specific for facial paralysis. The approach for facial mapping of soft tissue movement, when validated through this proposed study, can be used for both surgical planning and to support the development and training of implantable facial pacing devices. Mapping both normal facial movements and movements of patients with unilateral facial paralysis are vital to describe the temporal and spatial course of the recovery process. Ultimately, this information can be used to inform clinicians on the precise placement of these devices and the signal strength needed to facilitate movements in the required 'paralyzed' facial zones until the recovery process has been completed.
Movement Characterization in Spastic/Dystonic Cerebral Palsy Using Haptic Feedback in Virtual Reality...
Cerebral PalsyMixed2 moreThis game-like intervention using virtual reality will provide an objective and quantitative characterization of dystonia and spasticity presentations in cerebral palsy, even if combined, through the process of motor learning. This intervention could have a therapeutic benefit in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
Dynamic Gait Index in Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral PalsyHemiplegic Cerebral Palsy2 moreThe purpose of this study is to assess validity and reliability of Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) in patients with unilateral spastic cerebral palsy
Profiling Children and Youth With Cerebral Palsy in Relation to Feeding and Nutrition
Cerebral PalsyHCPs will complete questionnaires about their patients with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and invite parents/caregivers of these patients to fill in questionnaires as well. Questionnaires include questions on individualized treatment, nutritional profile and management, and patient characteristics.
Genetic Analysis of Thyrotoxic Periodic Paralysis
Thyrotoxic Periodic ParalysisThyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP) is characterized by episodes of reversible hypokalemia and weakness in thyrotoxic patients. It is commonly found in males of Asian descent and is also seen in individuals having Native American or Hispanic ancestry. Therefore genetic etiology has been hypothesized. This study, we aim to find the susceptibility genes that associate with TPP. Both candidate genes approach and genome wide association study have been conducted.
Whole Genome Scan of Extended Families With Familial Vocal Cord Paralysis
Vocal Cord ParalysisVocal cord paralysis is a common cause of congenital stridor and airway obstruction. In this study we plan to identify the genetic locus of the genes in two extended families who suffer of the disease.
L Test in Children With Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral PalsyThe aim of the study was to investigation of the validity and reliability of the L test in children with cerebral palsy. Eighty children with CP with mean age of 11.60±3.85 (56 boys, 24 girls) were included in the study. ICC ((Intraclass Correlation Coefficient) was used to assess interclass, intraclass and test- retest validity of the L test. Two independent examiners made L test, for the inter-rater reliability, twice within 1 day for the test-retest reliability. The minimal clinical important difference at 95% confidence interval intra-class correlation coefficient and standard error of measurements were calculated. The correlations of L test with Timed up and Go Test (TUG) and Timed up and Down Stairs Test (TUDS) were assessed for concurrent validity.
Compliance of Parents of Children With Cerebral Palsy to Home Program Questionnaire
Cerebral PalsyThis study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Compliance of Parents of Children with Cerebral Palsy to Home Program Assesment Questionnaire (CPHP-Q), a caregiver-report for adherence and frequency of home program implementation of parents of children with Cerebral Palsy.
