A Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Somatropin in Adults With Growth Hormone Deficiency Caused by...

Brain InjuriesGrowth Hormone Deficiency Dwarfism

The purpose of this study is to assess the prevalence of GHD in patients who sustain a head injury or suffer a major traumatic event and to evaluate the efficacy of growth hormone (GH) therapy in the treatment of GHD caused by trauma or head injury

Effect of Intrathoracic Pressure Regulation on Decreased Cerebral Perfusion (4hour)

Head InjuryIntracranial Pathology1 more

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the physiological response to application of the Intrathoracic Pressure Regulator (ITPR) in patients with compromised cerebral circulation. The study will evaluate the physiological response to intrathoracic pressure regulation (IPR) therapy in hemodynamically stable patients with compromised cerebral circulation who are on ventilatory support.

Effect of Intrathoracic Pressure Regulation on Traumatic Brain Injury

Head Injury

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate proof of clinical concept that application of the Intrathoracic Pressure Regulator (ITPR) will result in an increase in Cerebral Perfusion Pressure (CPP) and a decrease in Intracranial Perfusion Pressure (ICP) in patients with head injury and elevated ICP, and to determine the optimal ventilation tidal volume (TV).

Head Injury Retrieval Trial

Head InjuriesClosed

The study hypothesis is that advanced interventions as provided by a physician at an accident scene will decrease the death rate and the rate of severe disability in survivors of severe head injury. Extended interventions by advanced level prehospital providers may include rapid sequence intubation (RSI) airway management, blood transfusions, surgical procedures, etc.

NAC for Head Trauma-induced Anosmia

AnosmiaHead Trauma

This study will compare administration of N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) versus placebo for the treatment of olfactory loss due to head injury. The hypothesis is that treatment with NAC acutely after head injury will result in improved olfactory function

PREVACT : Preventive REversal of Vitamine K Antagonist in Minor Craniocerebral Trauma

Coagulation; IntravascularCraniocerebral Trauma1 more

The occurence of a minor craniocerebral trauma in patients receiving vitamine K antagonist treatment leads to a high risk of bleeding. Current guidelines recommend to perform a CT scan, and, in case of intracranial bleeding, to reverse anticoagulation with concomitant administration of prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs) and vitamin K. However, even if a reversion is performed, the prognostic of post-traumatic intracranial bleeding remain bad. The investigators hypothesize that, for patients admitted in an emergency department after a minor head trauma and receiving anticoagulant treatment, a systematic preventive reversion with PCCs can lead to a significant reduction of intracranial haemorrhage and can also improve the neurological prognostic of patients versus the current strategy. PREVACT will test this hypothesis, in an open label, randomized, multicentre, clinical trial involving 400 patients.

Comparative Effectiveness of Family Problem-Solving Therapy (F-PST) for Adolescent TBI

TbiIntracranial Edema16 more

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the most common cause of acquired disability in youth and a source of significant morbidity and family burden. Novel behavior problems are among the most common and problematic consequences, yet many youth fail to receive needed psychological services due to lack of identification and access. Linking youth with TBI to effective treatments could improve functional outcomes, reduce family burden, and increase treatment satisfaction. The investigators overarching aim is to compare the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of three formats of family problem solving therapy (F-PST) for improving functional outcomes of complicated mild to severe adolescent TBI: therapist-guided, face-to-face; therapist-guided online; and self-guided, online F-PST.

Could Early Atorvastatin Offer Anti Inflammatory Effects Upon Brain in Traumatic Head Injury?

Traumatic Brain Injury

3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, known as statins, are widely used to reduce levels of low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol. As lipid-lowering drugs, statins exert neuroprotective effects on ischemic stroke. this study will investigate whether the protective effect of statins is mediated by their ability to impact inflammation and oxygen free radical levels in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Could Statins affect the neuroinflamation which occurs after traumatic brain injury?

Effect of Passive Gait Training on the Cortical Activity in Patients With Severe Traumatic Brain...

Craniocerebral TraumaTraumatic Brain Injury1 more

The aim of this study is to determine whether passive gait training increases arousal, demonstrated as changes in EEG (electroencephalogram) activity. Hypotheses: 1) Passive gait training increases EEG-frequency in patients with impaired consciousness due to severe traumatic brain injury. 2) Passive gait training increases conductivity speed of the cognitive P300-component of ERP in patients with impaired consciousness due to severe traumatic brain injury.
