Batch Enrollment for AI-Guided Intervention to Lower Neurologic Events in Unrecognized AF

Atrial Fibrillation

This is a prospective study to test a novel artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled electrocardiogram (ECG)-based screening tool for improving the diagnosis of unrecognized atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke prevention.

Survey on Belgian Patients Suffering From Irregular Heartbeat and Starting Treatment With a Drug...

Atrial Fibrillation

In this study researchers want to learn more about the patient's and treating doctor's concerns about possible bleedings during treatment with drugs preventing blood clots in blood vessels and the heart - so called blood thinner. The study also wants to find out more about the patient's knowledge on the importance, risks and benefits of treatment with this drug group. Patients with irregular heartbeat not caused by valvular heart disease who will start treatment with a blood thinner will be asked by their treating cardiologist to complete a questionnaire related to their knowledge and fear of possible bleedings or stroke (blockage or rupture of a blood vessel to the brain) due to the intake of a blood thinner. The treating doctor will complete a similar questionnaire. The study plans to involve 15 cardiologists and 300 patients in Belgium.

Contribution of Image Fusion in Percutaneous Left Atrial Occlusion procédures (Fusion Image)

Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is the most common rhythm disorder, affecting 2 to 3 percent of the population. One of the major complications is the occurrence of thromboembolic events, the thromboembolic risk can be predicted by the ChadsVasc score. Anticoagulant treatment is therefore almost always indicated, however, in view of the target population, anticoagulant treatment is sometimes contraindicated, justifying the appearance of alternative treatment such as occlusion of the left auricle by surgical or percutaneous means, with the placement of a prosthesis in the left auricle. Image fusion is a new imaging technique aimed at improving the spatial view of 2D images (made during a catheterization session) by repositioning in real time a 3D model obtained by reconstruction from scanner images of the structure of interest. Once the model has been redesigned, it follows all the consequences that the hemodynamicist wants to take and thus guides the gesture as well as possible. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the contribution of image fusion to per cutaneous occlusion procedures of the left atrium. This contribution will be evaluated by comparing the procedure time, the irradiation time, the amount of contrast material used between the procedures performed with the image fusion technique and without this new technique.

A Study of Participants With Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation (NVAF) Treated or Untreated With Oral...

Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation (NVAF)

The purpose of this observational study is to understand real-world oral anticoagulants (OAC) (warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, edoxaban and rivaroxaban) usage for non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients.

Study Aims to Collect Information in Routine Clinical Practice in Italy About the Number of Patients...

Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation

While it is well known that stopping or changing medication with blood thinners in patients who suffer from non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) increases the risk of ischemic stroke (a condition which occurs when a vessel supplying blood to the brain is obstructed), bleeding or thromboembolism (a condition that happens when a blood clot forms elsewhere in the body and travels through the blood stream to plug another vessel), limited data are available on the number of NVAF patients and the reasons why NVAF patients in Italy stop or change their treatment with blood thinners to prevent stroke or thromboembolism. By following the NVAF patients in routine clinical practice in Italy who are treated with rivaroxaban to prevent stroke or systemic embolism researchers want to find out how many NVAF patients and for what reasons NVAF patients stopped or changed rivaroxaban treatment. Study data will be collected through patients' routine visits at their treating doctor over a period of 24 months for each patient.

Novel Methods for Arrhythmia Detection: Preliminary Study

StrokeAtrial Fibrillation

Approximately 20-25% of strokes are of cardioembolic origin, atrial fibrillation (AF) being a significant cause of cardioembolic strokes. AF is often symptomless and intermittent, making its detection a clinical challenge. Currently the golden standard for diagnosis of AF is by 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) or any other ECG-strip. The aim of the study is to assess the potential of chest strap as an ECG monitor, especially in arrhythmia detection by cardiologist and algorithm.

Understanding and Improving Anticoagulation Dosing for Patients With Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial Fibrillation

This study will survey atrial fibrillation patients to better understand patient perspective of DOAC treatment, and providers to assess knowledge, practice patterns, and beliefs surrounding anticoagulation for AF.

Evaluation of Safety and Effectiveness on Oral Anticoagulants

Atrial Fibrillation

This study is to compare the risk of major bleeding among oral anticoagulant (OAC)-naïve non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients initiating treatment

The Validation of the FibriCheck Application for the Detection of Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial Fibrillation

Optical sensing technologies have the potential to enable long-term heart rhythm monitoring. The medically certified and clinically validated FibriCheck technology has proven its value for spot-check measurements to detect AF. However, further validation and verification of this technology is necessary to evaluate the performance of the FibriCheck technology on different tools (smartphones and smartwatches). During this study the performance of various optical sensors, ranging from the camera in smartphones to the photodetector in smartwatches, will be explored and device and form-factor variability will be investigated. The objective is to define the accuracy of optical sensing systems in the detection of atrial fibrillation versus a reference traditional 12-lead ECG signal.
