Purpose: The aim of this study is to figure out how does the selection of lower-extremity biomechanical variables presented by dynamic knee valgus, tibial torsion and navicular drop may influence pain, disability, and balance in women with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Methods: Sixty-five women with patellofemoral pain syndrome will be evaluated for lower limb biomechanical variables.

Anterior Knee Pain Syndrome

Anterior Knee Pain (AKP) is a common condition that can be challenging to treat effectively. The main goal of treatment regimens is to improve the function of the knee. However, treatment can be challenging due to the knee pain experience. Cingal™ contains hyaluronic acid (HA), which acts as a joint lubricant, and the corticosteroid triamcinolone hexacetonide (TH). Some studies have shown that Cingal™ can improve joint function and provide short-term pain relief.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of myofascial release techniques applied on the superficial anterior myofascial chain of the body on pain, functional status, posture, biomechanical and viscoelastic properties of myofascial tissues in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. There will be two groups in this study. Each group will consist of 30 patients aged 25-50 years with patellofemoral pain syndrome. A total of 60 participants will take part in the study. Conventional physiotherapy will be applied to the control group, while myofascial release techniques will be applied to the experimental group in addition to conventional physiotherapy. Treatment programs will be applied to both groups 2 days a week for 6 weeks. Postural problems that can be seen in the superficial anterior myofascial chain line will be evaluated. These problems: forward head, q-angle, genu varum, genu valgum, foot postural problems and pelvic tilt. In addition to all these assessments, knee pain, lower extremity functionality and biomechanical properties of the anterior myofascial tissue will be evaluated.

Central Neuromuscular Dysfunction in Patellofemoral Pain

Patellofemoral joint problems constitute a significant portion of knee pain and injuries. Patellofemoral pain, which is among these problems, is a common musculoskeletal disorder with a poor long-term prognosis in the community. Disturbances in M. quadriceps femoris muscle function have been observed in individuals with patellofemoral pain. M. Quadriceps femoris dysfunction includes arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AKI). Abnormal joint afferent discharge, which is the cause of AMI, affects the excitability of the spinal and supraspinal tracts by limiting muscle activation and can have strong effects on the central nervous system. Therefore, not only spinal reflex pathways but also corticomotor and intracortical pathways are involved in the neurophysiological mechanism of AKI. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) of the motor cortex is used to evaluate the integrity of the motor pathways and to obtain information about the connections of the relevant brain regions. The limited number of studies examining the changes in corticomotor excitability of M. Quadriceps femoris with TMS in individuals with patellofemoral pain, and the differences in results, and changes in corticomotor excitability at different angular values of the knee joint during active movement have not been examined in studies to date, so it will be applied to individuals with patellofemoral pain by knowing more about central neuromuscular involvement. The aim of this study is to compare central neuromuscular involvement in individuals with patellofemoral pain with healthy individuals, and to compare the isometric muscle strength of the M. Quadriceps femoris muscle, force sense, knee joint function, quality of life, physical activity and kinesiophobia levels by comparing them with healthy individuals of the same age and gender. In the study, corticomotor involvement of M.Quadriceps femoris with TMS, isometric muscle strength with Lafayette Manual Muscle Tester, force sense with pressurized biofeedback unit, knee joint function with Kujala Patellofemoral Scale, quality of life with Short Form-36, physical activity with International Physical Activity Questionnaire, kinesiophobia l will be assessed with the Brief Fear of Movement Scale.

Muscle Strength Loss and Its Effect on Knee Cap Motion in Volunteers With Anterior Knee Pain

Background: - Researchers are interested in how the muscles affect the movement of the knee cap. These muscles may be related to different kinds of knee pain that are not caused by an injury or a disease. Imaging studies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to look at these muscles. To study these muscles and how they move, researchers will use MRI to look at healthy individuals and individuals with knee cap pain. Objectives: - To study how changes to the muscles around the knee can influence knee pain. Eligibility: Individuals between 18 to 55 years of age who have knee cap pain that cannot be explained by a specific injury or disease. Healthy volunteers between 18 and 55 years of age. Design: Participants will be screened with a physical exam and medical history. This study requires two visits. Each visit will use standard MRI sequences to take images of the knee in motion and at rest. On the first visit, the MRI scan will look at the knee in its natural state. Participants will move the knee up and down for 1 to 3 minutes at a time during the scan. On the second visit, a local anesthetic agent will be injected into the muscle of the thigh. The anesthetic will block this muscle from generating force for 2 or 3 hours. Participants will move the knee up and down for 1 to 3 minutes at a time during the MRI scan.

This study will use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound images to study how muscles, tendons, and bones work together to cause motion. The procedure is one of several tools being developed to characterize normal and impaired musculoskeletal function, with the goal of developing improved methods of diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders. Healthy normal volunteers must be age 5 to unlimited, with or without joint impairment, may be eligible for this study. Volunteers with joint impairment may not have serious injury to the joint being studied, previous surgery on the joint being studied, or extreme pain at the joint being studied. MRI uses a strong magnet and radio waves to create images of the inside of the body. The subject lies on a long narrow couch inside a metal cylinder (the scanner) for up to 3 hours while the scanner gathers data. Earplugs are worn to muffle loud noises caused by electrical switching of radiofrequency circuits used in the scanning process. A special pad or tube may be placed over or around the region being scanned to improve the quality of the data. The subject will be asked to repeatedly move a specific joint, such as the knee, for brief periods, usually less than 5 minutes. The subject can communicate via intercom with the person performing the study at all times during the procedure, and may request to stop the study at any time.

This is a blinded randomized controlled trial to assess the effectiveness of manual therapy to improve hip abduction strength in patients with acute anterior knee pain. The primary objective of this study is to see if manual therapy to the gluteus medius can significantly alter within-session measurements of hip abductor strength in patients with anterior knee pain. The secondary objective of this study is to see if manual therapy to the gluteus medius can significantly alter within session pain in patients with anterior knee pain.

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of blood restriction therapy by comparing increase in muscle mass and strength in patients that receive blood restriction therapy to patients who receive a placebo.
