Peri-ImplantitisObjective: The objective of this study was to evaluate a new mechanical method (Ti-Brush, Straumann, AG, Basel, Switzerland) of implant surface decontamination. Material and methods: A randomized double-blinded controlled clinical trial with a 1-year follow-up it is being carried out. After a hygienic phase, defects were randomly assigned to a control (n=18) or to a test group (n=18). In control group, implant surface was decontaminated both mechanically and chemically with 3% H2O2 and plastic ultrasonic scalers, respectively, while in test group Ti-Brush was added. Infrabony defects in both groups were regenerated with BoneCeramic (Straumann, AG, Basel Switzerland) and collagen barrier membrane Cytoplast (Osteogenics, Lubbock, United States). Clinical and radiographic parameters were measured at baseline, 6, and 12 months after surgery.

Laser-Assisted Regenerative Surgical Therapy for Peri-implantitis
Peri-ImplantitisThe purpose of the study is to evaluate if using Erbium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet laser, Erbium YAG laser (Er:YAG) laser could have adjunctive benefits to the conventional standard mechanical debridement to ablate the infected tissue around the dental implant and detoxify the contaminated implant surface for resolving peri-implant infection and enhance bone regeneration of peri-implant defects.
Non Surgical Treatment of Periimplantitis
Peri-Implantitis and Peri-implant Mucositis20 consecutive adult implant patients, presenting the signs of peri-implant mucositis (probing depth ≥4 mm combined with bleeding and/or pus on probing) or initial peri-implantitis (probing depth ≥4 mm, bleeding and suppuration plus radiographic loss of supporting bone ≤30% compared with the situation after implant placement) will be included. Sites will be treated by ultrasonic debridement of the pocket, performed using a piezoceramic ultrasonic device. For the purpose, a Tip will be connected to the Handpiece Led (5 minutes/pocket) . Then, it will be followed by the subgingival use of erythritol powder applied by the use of Handpiece connected to an airflow unit 2x5 seconds/pocket. At this time the subgingival delivery of metronidazole gel will be provided. After instrumentation, patients will rinse with chlorhexidine 0.20% 3 times/day for 2 weeks. At baseline, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months the following parameters will be evaluated: Probing Pocket depth (PPD), Bleeding on Probing (BoP), Clinical Attachment Level (CAL).

Understanding, Modulation and Memorization of Indicators Associated to Peri-implantitis
Peri-ImplantitisCommunication strategies are encouraged to enhance patients´ understanding of potential events related to implant therapy such as peri-implantitis. Moreover, it is key to provide accurate information to patients receiving dental implants to reduce false expectations and to minimize the alterations concerning satisfaction. Information leaflets based in the "health-belief model" proved efficiency in improving health judgments, decisions and behaviors, in particular when supplemented with visual aids. Hence, it was the purpose of the present study to test the effectiveness of different communication strategies to enhance and modulate the understanding and memorization of risk indicators associated to peri-implantitis. A prospective randomized controlled three-arm study is being conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki on human studies. Three groups are defined to test the hypothesis that visual aids improve the understanding, modulation and memorization of peri-implantitis and related indicators as follows: Test group1 - Leaflet with visual aid (L-VA): Information concerning etiology, prevalence, risk indicators and preventive measures of peri-implantitis were included (supplementary figure 1). Relevant scientific bibliography supported the statements. Along, pictograms were supplemented to display the prevalence of disease with and without the known indicator. Test group2 - Leaflet with visual aid (L-NVA): Information concerning etiology, prevalence, risk indicators and preventive measures of peri-implantitis were included (supplementary figure 2). Relevant scientific bibliography supported the statements. No pictograms were supplemented. Control group - No leaflet (NL): Only verbal information was provided to the patient during initial interview. Patients will be randomly assigned to the tests or control groups according to the last digit of their chart number. As such, patients with records ending 1-4, 4-7 and 8-0 were included in test group1, test group2 and control group, respectively. When reached the total sample size of any of the groups, patients were only recruited for the remaining groups to complete the total sample size. A questionnaire based on the "health-belief model" will be collected from every eligible patient at baseline, 3- and 6-month follow-up
Comparison of Short and Standard Dental Implants

Methodology: The implants were divided into two groups according to their lengths: standard (intrabony length ≥8 mm) and extra short (intrabony length ≤ 6 mm). A total of 60 implants were researched in 30 patients. Probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL), presence of bleeding on probing (BOP), 3-year survival rate (CSR), and bone loss (BL) were measured.
