Evaluate the Influence of Electromagnetic Field as an Adjunctive Non Surgical Treatment in Implant...
Peri-Implantitisthe aim of the study is to compare between two non-surgical methods of treatment of peri-implantitis by using debridement and placing an healing abutment with electomagnetic field (MED-Magdent Miniaturized Device) in the test group and Sham healing abutment in the control group ( Sham MED).
Triclosan Toothpaste in the Maintenance Phase of Peri-implantitis Treatment.
Peri-ImplantitisPeriodontal DiseasesThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a dentifrice containing 0.3% triclosan on periodontal and peri-implant parameters in patients, with or without periodontitis, treated for peri-implantitis and that were enrolled in a maintenance phase for two years.
Locally Delivered 1% Metformin Gel in Peri-implantitis
Peri-ImplantitisThis study evaluates the efficacy of 1% local metformin gel in deep periimplant pockets of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Half of the participants will receive 1% metformin gel with manual debridement while the other half will receive a placebo with manual debridement.
Regenerative Surgical Treatment of Peri-implantitis
Failure of Dental Implant Due to InfectionInfection7 moreThe purpose of the study is to evaluate if surgical treatment of peri-implantitis with enamel matrix derivative (Emdogain®, EMD) will have an additional effect on the healing outcome, changes in the peri-implant microflora and on the inflammatory response in the periimplant pocket at 12 months.
The Effect of Peri-implant Surgery and Chair-side Supportive Post Surgical Peri-implant Therapy...
PeriimplantitisPeri-implant MucositisPeri-implantitis is defined as inflammation in the mucosa surrounding an oral implant with loss of supporting bone. The goals of peri-implantitis treatment are to resolve inflammation and to arrest the progression of disease. It is important to systematically gather information on the effect of surgical peri-implant treatment and to assess different protocols regarding chair-side maintenance of peri-implant tissue after surgery The aims of this clinical investigation are to evaluate the clinical, microbiological and radiographic outcomes of surgical treatment of peri-implantitis and to evaluate the efficacy of 2 supportive treatment protocols based on the use of titanium cyrettes or by the use of a flexible, biodegradable chitosan brush. Furthermore, to evaluate the impact of this therapy on selected biochemical markers associated with chronic inflammation and bone tissue destruction.
Effect of Hyaluronic Acid on Perimplantitis
Peri-ImplantitisThe effect of the hyaluronic acid treatment on peri-implantitis has not been tested. The aim was to analyze the effect of a hyaluronic acid-containing gel on the clinical variables and the expression of biochemical inflammatory markers in the crevicular fluid of implants receiving perimplantitis treatment.
Metronidazole as an Adjunct of Non- Surgical Treatment of Peri-implantitis
Peri-ImplantitisThe use of systemic antibiotics as and adjunct to non-surgical peri-implant therapy may be an improvement in comparison to these therapies alone. The primary objective is the evaluation of significant changes in probing pocket depth between non-surgical with or without antibiotics. This is a controlled-placebo clinical trial design. Patients with osseointegrated oral implants will be selected and recruited from a university clinic. Oral hygiene instruction and non-surgical debridement at implants will be provided with ultrasonic devices and immediately after, patients will be prescribed: Group Control: A placebo with the same characteristics as the antibiotic Group Test: Systemic antibiotics (Metronidazole 250mg, 2 capsules three times a day, for 7 days Three and six months after non-surgical treatment, clinical parameters will be registered and radiographs compared using reproducible landmarks. Any adverse event will be also recorded.
Peri-implantitis, Comparing Treatments 970 nm Laser and Mucosal Flap Surgery
Peri-ImplantitisA clinical trial comparing laser treatment and conventional mucosal flap surgery for treatment of peri-implantitis. The main aim of the study is to evaluate if treatment of peri-implantitis with 970 nm laser combined with scaling and root planning (SRP) is clinically comparable to conventional mucosal flap surgery in terms of pocket probing depth reduction.
Non-surgical Mechanical Therapy of Peri-implantitis With or Without Adjunctive Diode Laser Application...
Peri-ImplantitisPeri-implantitis is a pathological condition occurring in tissues around dental implants, characterized by inflammation in the peri-implant connective tissue and progressive loss of supporting bone. The goals of peri-implantitis treatment is the resolution of peri-implant soft tissue inflammation and stabilization of the bony attachment (e.g., the level of osseointegration). For this decontamination of the implant surface is mandatory. In order to increase implant surface decontamination, several adjunctive tools have been proposed and investigated both in pre-clinical and clinical studies such as the use of photodynamic therapy and lasers. So far, no data are available to clearly demonstrate the efficacy of the adjunctive use of a diode laser in the non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis. Therefore, the aim of the present randomized controlled trial (RCT) is to investigate the adjunctive effect of the application of a diode laser to treat peri-implantitis lesions by means of a non-surgical approach. A total of 30 patients is randomly allocated to two groups. The test group receives 3 x nonsurgical mechanical treatment with diode laser application whereas the control group receives the same treatment with sham laser application. The primary outcome is the peri-implant pocket probing depth at 12 months.
Ozone Therapy as an Adjunct to the Surgical Treatment of Peri-implantitis
Peri-ImplantitisDecontamination procedure is a challenging factor that affects the success of surgical regenerative therapy (SRT) of peri-implantitis. The purpose of the present study was to determine the impact of additional ozone therapy for the decontamination of implant surfaces in SRT of peri-implantitis. A total of 21 patients with moderate or advanced peri-implantitis were randomly allocated to the test group (ozone group) with the use of sterile saline with additional ozone therapy or the control group with sterile saline alone for decontamination of the implant surfaces in SRT of peri-implantitis. Clinical and radiographic outcomes were evaluated at baseline and 6 months postoperatively
