Anti Plaque Efficacy of Salvadora Persica L. and Green Tea Mouthwash
Periodontal DiseasesPeriodontal diseases and caries are essentially initiated and progressed by accumulation of dental plaque. Thus, daily effective plaque control is valuable as a preventive measure and maintaining oral health. Mechanical plaque control is important but has limitations; therefore, an adjunctive chemical plaque control such as mouthwash is helpful. Various medicinal plant-derived galenicals might be used as safe and stable alternatives to synthetic mouthwashes. For example, a combination of Salvadora persica L. (Sp) root sticks and green tea (Gt) aqueous extract has been found to reduce plaque accumulation over 24 hours. Moreover, these extracts were reported to have anti-microbial activity against many oral bacteria. The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of the combination of Gt aqueous extract and Sp aqueous extract in reducing plaque buildup for 4 days duration.
Impacts of Oral Irrigation in Orthodontic Patients
Oral HygieneOrthodontics1 moreThe present study aimed to investigate clinically the cleaning effectiveness of different treatment modalities, that is, oral irrigator or interdental brush usage addition to routine brushing and examine interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-10, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1, MMP-8 levels in gingival crevicular fluid of orthodontic patients. The null hypothesis was that oral irrigators would be effective compared to interdental brush in the oral care of individuals who are orthodontic patients.
Antibacterial and Anti-biofilm Activity of Frankincense Extract Against Porphyromonas Gingivalis...
Periodontal DiseasesBoswellia sacra Flueck. oleoresin extract (frankincense) was traditionally used in the treatment of different diseases as respiratory, rheumatoid arthritis, and bacterial infections. Therefore, the antibacterial and antibiofilm activity of frankincense extract against Porphyromonas gingivalis periodontal pathogen clinical isolates were studied
Evaluation of Antiplaque Efficacy of Licorice Extract Mouthrinse & HSS and Their Comparison With...
Mild GingivitisPeriodontal Diseases1 morePeriodontal disease is a multifactorial disease caused by mainly bacterial, genetic, immunological, and environmental factors. Chronic periodontitis, one of the widely prevalent forms of periodontal disease, is characterized by loss of attachment apparatus of the tooth; it can lead to tooth loss. Many non surgical and surgical approaches have been adapted time and again to prevent, intercept, and to treat the various forms of chronic periodontitis. But, these treatment modalities are not approachable by all individuals, because of the various factors such as: low socioeconomic status, illiteracy, high cost of the treatment, no availability of easy and uncomplicated treatment nearby etc. Considering these factors, there are still a need of preventive, practical, and affordable treatment options specially for the population of underdeveloped and developing countries.
Comparative Evaluation of Antiplaque and Antigingivitis Efficacy of Ocimum Sanctum (Tulsi) Extract...
Periodontal DiseasesGingivitis1 moreChlorhexidine is considered as gold standard for its antiplaque and antigingivitis efficacy till date but it has got many side effects. So it is need of the hour that investigators will find some substitute having similar antiplque and antigingivitis efficay but have less or no adverse effects. so in this study investigators planned to do "Comparative evaluation of antiplaque and antigingivitis efficacy of ocimum sanctum (tulsi) extract mouthrinse with 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthrinse.
Diode Laser Study for Periodontal Maintenance Patients
Periodontal DiseasesPeriodontitis3 moreThis study tries to determine whether the additional use of laser with "cleaning" (known as scaling and root planning) will result in the reduction of inflammation, reduction of bleeding upon examination and reduction of pocket depth in patients who are being maintained on a regular basis but have pocket depths that are ≥5mm with bleeding. When a pocket is bleeding, it is inflamed. It is usually "cleaned" with periodontal instruments (root-planed) to establish health. Some research also advocates using laser therapy to treat a bleeding pocket. Laser therapy is presently being performed in some dental offices and dental colleges. This research is trying to see if the additional laser therapy is beneficial.
Regenafil Versus Demineralized Freeze Dried Bone Allograft (DFDBA) for Periodontal Defects
Periodontal DiseasesThe purpose of this research study was to determine whether treatment with the bone grafting material Regenafil was as effective as the standard treatment using demineralized freeze dried bone allograft (DFDBA). Regenafil is demineralized freeze dried bone in a special gel form.
Osteoplasty in Conjunction With Surgical Treatment of Mandibular Grade II Furcation Defects
Furcation DefectsPeriodontal DiseasesTeeth with furcation grade II defects will be treated with open flap debridement, with or without osteoplasty. The study is designed to examine the effect of osteoplasty in the treatment of teeth with furcation grade II defects with open flap debridement.
Correlation Between Oral Health and Systemic Inflammation (COHESION)
InflammationPeriodontal Disease1 moreCOHESION is a randomized trial targeting reduction of systemic inflammation through an oral hygiene regimen incorporating a plaque-disclosing toothpaste and a control toothpaste.
Evaluation of Periodontal Diseases and Obesity in Women
Periodontal DiseasesObesityThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of obesity and exercise on periodontal and biochemical parameters [serum, saliva and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) adipokines (interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α, leptin, resistin and adiponectin)].
