Walking Training in Peripheral Artery Disease (GrEnADa Sub-study)
Peripheral Artery DiseaseIntermittent ClaudicationWhereas the efficacy of exercise interventions has been abundantly proven in male with peripheral artery disease (PAD), it remains to be determined whether these interventions are effective in women. The aim of this randomized controlled trial which will be performed with 34 PAD women will be to investigating the effects of 12 weeks of supervised walking on functional capacity and cardiovascular function and regulation at rest and during exercise.
Exercise on Expression of Heat Shock Protein 70 in Arterial Risk
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseIntroduction: Atherosclerotic Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is the leading cause of mortality in the western world. To maintain homeostasis of the vessel wall, vascular cells produce a high level of heat shock proteins (HSP), among which is Hsp70, to stimulate innate immunity and face stress. Methods: This is a clinical trial where 260 individuals were evaluated by a screening test employing the Ankle-Arm Index (ABI), 220 of them were not within risk value (0.91 to 0.99 mmHg). In the clinical trial, 32 individuals were included. A control group and an experimental group were formed. Aerobic exercise intervention was performed for 12 weeks. The level of Hsp70 was evaluated, physical and clinical measurements were applied at the beginning and at the end of the trial.
Sonodynamic Therapy in the Treatment of Perivascular Adipose Tissue on Patients With PAD and Claudication...
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseThe purpose of this trial is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) in reducing the inflammation of perivascular adipose tissue and increasing peak walking time (PWT) among peripheral artery disease (PAD) patients with symptom of intermittent claudication.
Ultra Low Iodine Loaded Spectral CT Angiography (CTA)
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseRenal InsufficiencyThe objectives of this study are: Evaluation of ultra-low iodine load CTA protocols of the aorta and lower extremities. To investigate whether dual-layer in combination with with virtual monoenergetic imaging (VMI) allows for reduction of contrast medium (CM) in CTA of the aorta and lower limbs i with sustained objective and subjective image quality parameters.
Lowering the Risk of Operative Complications Using Atorvastatin Loading Dose
Myocardial InfarctionPeripheral Vascular Disease1 morePatients submitted to noncardiac surgeries are at increased risk of serious cardiovascular complications. Statins have shown to lower cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular events in other scenarios. The objective of this study is to explore the effects of atorvastatin, as compared with placebo, on the 30-day risk of a composite of death, nonfatal Myocardial Injury after Noncardiac Surgery (MINS), or stroke among patients who undergo noncardiac surgery.
Trial of Pantheris System, an Atherectomy Device That Provides Imaging While Removing Plaque in...
Peripheral Arterial DiseaseTo evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Pantheris System to perform atherectomy while using directional visualization and imaging as an adjunct to fluoroscopy to aid removal of plaque from diseased lower extremity arteries.
Magnevist (SH L 451A) Intra-individual Dose Comparison Study in Magnetic Resonance Angiography
Magnetic Resonance AngiographyPeripheral Vascular Diseases1 moreThe objective of the study was to compare the efficacy of Magnevist (SH L 451 A) at doses of 0.1 mmol/kg and 0.2 mmol/kg in contrast-enhanced 3D-Magnetic Resonance Angiography in three regions (abdominal, femoral, and leg regions) for visualization of arteries, evaluating 179 not assessable: caused by contrast media in the evaluation of structural abnormalities. Magnevist (SH L 451 A) was administered intravenously in a crossover design in patients with arterial disease in the abdominal to leg regions. The safety of the 0.2 mmol/kg dose was also assessed.
Cocoa Flavanols and Painfree Walking Distance
Peripheral Artery DiseaseDiabetes MellitusTo characterize potential vascular long-term effects of flavanols in patients with peripheral artery occlusive disease (PAOD), a placebo-controlled double-blinded randomized control study will be performed in 62 patients randomized in two groups. Patients will twice daily receive either a flavanol-poor cocoa drink or a flavanol-rich cocoa drink over a period of 60 days months.
Magnevist® Injection Enhanced MRA at Two Dose Levels Compared to Non Contrast MRA for the Detection...
Peripheral Vascular DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to look at the safety (what are the side effects) and efficacy (how well does it work) of Magnevist (the study drug) used for MRI of the infrarenal aorta and peripheral arteries. The results will be compared to the results of MRI taken without Magnevist, and with the results of your X-ray angiography.
Verizon mHealth Solution for Patients With Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
Peripheral Artery DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to understand the effects that a three month lifestyle-based mobile health (mHealth) peripheral artery disease (PAD) prevention program will have on improving physical activity, fitness, important PAD risk factors and quality of life (QOL) in patients with PAD. By testing a novel mHealth intervention focused on lifestyle modification, this trial will address a critical evidence gap in the care of PAD patients. PAD patients are not eligible for cardiac rehabilitation and therefore struggle with unhealthy lifestyles, and these patients currently have no lifestyle-based care strategies to help them. The results of this study have the potential to lead to new sustainable and resource-efficient, lifestyle-based preventive care strategies for patients with stable PAD.
