Symptomatic Peripheral Artery Disease With Femoropopliteal LesionsModerate or Severe Claudication (Rutherford Category 2 or 3)1 more

Prospective, multi-center single-arm observational study A total of 100 subjects with femoropopliteal artery disease who meet all inclusion and exclusion criteria will be included. Patients will be followed clinically for 12 months after the procedure. An imaging study (duplex ultrasound, CT or catheter-based angiography) follow-up according to participating hospital's protocol will be performed at 12 months. Ankle-brachial index, symptom status and presence of stent fracture will be evaluated at 12 months.

It is estimated that >200 million people have Peripheral artery disease (PAD) worldwide. PAD is related to increased morbidity or mortality in affected patients. More severe forms of PAD are surgically managed. Estrogen receptors (ERs) are strictly linked with vascular disease, and may be involved also in PAD onset and progression. This study will explore the expression of ERs, (ER-alpha, ER-beta,and a G protein-coupled of estrogen receptor -GPER-) in vessel wall of arteries of operated PAD patients, through the entire clinical spectrum of PAD.

The aim of the study is to compare the diagnostic value of this non-invasive vascular imaging tool with the established vascular diagnostic methods for PAD in order to get prognostic data. A higher sensitivity of Fluorescence angiography in order to recognize progression of critical limb ischemia could lead to earlier therapeutic interventions and thereby increase limb salvage. A diagnostic gap would be closed.

The complete blood count is a commonly performed blood test, and previous small studies have suggested that the counts of some types of white blood cell in the complete blood count may be related to the onset of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart attack. This is of interest because this information may help to predict strokes or heart attacks and may guide new therapies which act on white blood cells to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The hypothesis is that counts of particular types of white blood cell are associated with a range of cardiovascular diseases.
