A Study to Investigate the Neuroprotective Effect of PROCRIT (Epoetin Alfa) Versus Placebo in Cancer...

Peripheral NeuropathyChemotherapy-induced

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of PROCRIT (epoetin alfa, a glycoprotein that stimulates red blood cell production) versus placebo in patients with cancer who develop chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy due to combination Taxane and Platinum-Based treatment.

Safety of Pregabalin in the Treatment of Pain Due to Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

The purpose of this study is to 1) provide continued pregabalin treatment for 6 additional months to patients who have taken part in the placebo controlled study A0081060; and 2) find out if pregabalin is safe at a dose of 600 mg/day (taken twice a day)

VEGF Gene Transfer for Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic Neuropathy

This gene therapy study is being conducted to evaluate intramuscular gene transfer using VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) in patients with diabetic neuropathy in the legs. This condition causes a decrease in feeling and sensation due to diabetes. VEGF is DNA, or genetic material that is injected into the muscles of the leg. Once in the leg, it has been shown to cause new blood vessels to grow under a variety of conditions.

A Phase II/III Double-Blind Study of Amitriptyline and Mexiletine for Painful Neuropathy in HIV...

HIV InfectionsPeripheral Nervous System Disease

To assess the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of amitriptyline hydrochloride versus mexiletine hydrochloride in reducing pain intensity in patients with HIV-related painful peripheral neuropathy. No large-scale controlled clinical trials of symptomatic therapy for painful HIV-related neuropathy have been attempted. Both amitriptyline and mexiletine have been useful in the management of painful neuropathies; however, both are associated with certain toxicities. In this comparative study of amitriptyline and mexiletine, benztropine mesylate also will be included as an active placebo to mimic the side effects of the study drugs.

Effects of Aerobic Thai Dance in Patient With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Exercise AddictionDiabetic Neuropathies

The goal of this type of study is clinical trial. This to learn about effects of applied aerobic Thai dance exercise on gait balance and sudomotor function in patient with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Test variables of gait, balance, function of sudomotor, Physiological data such as pulse, blood pressure, body composition, ankle and leg muscle strength, compare with control and experimental group in diabetes with peripheral neuropathy. The main question Question 1: Dose Applied aerobic Thai dance exercise affects gait and balance in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy? Question 2: Does applied aerobic Thai dance exercise affect sudomotor function in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy? Participants will divided into 2 groups: the control group and the experimental group. By randomly sampling 22 people from each group The control group was advised to exercise at home for a period of 12 weeks. The experimental group participated in Applied aerobic Thai dance exercise 60 minutes per session, 3 times per week, for a period of 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, variable data were collected and to compare within and between groups.

Study of Exablate Model 4000 Type 1.0/1.1 Following the Treatment of Neuropathic Pain

Peripheral NeuropathyNeuropathic Pain

The Exablate 4000 obtained CE Mark for the treatment of Neuropathic Pain in December 2012. The purpose of this post market study is to obtain real world data on the safety and performance of the Exablate treatment for neuropathic pain. The objective of this study is to capture the change in pain intensity, physical/emotional function, and pain impact for patients diagnosed with neuropathic pain who undergo an Exablate treatment.

Sensorimotor Training and Gait in Diabetic Polyneuropathy

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a common chronic complication of diabetes mellitus which results in high public health costs and has a huge impact on patients' quality of life. It leads to sensory and motor deficits, which often result in mobility-related dysfunction, and alterations in gait characteristics. These alternations in gait performance cause increase in the risk of fall, which has the strongest association with symptoms of depression in patients with diabetes. However, little is known about possible treatment strategies for improving gait ability and reduce risk of fall in patients with diabetic neuropathy. So, the purpose of this study will be to investigate the effect of sensorimotor training on ankle muscle strength, gait and quality of life in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. To determine if there is an effect for sensorimotor training on gait, ankle muscle strength and quality of life in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, the patient will be assessed before and after 6 weeks of treatment by measurement of ankle muscles strength using isokinetic dynamometer, measurement of different spatiotemporal gait parameters using gait trainer instrument , and assessment of quality of life of the patients using HRQL questionnaire (SF-36) before and after the treatment sessions.
