The SaVe Project-Sarcopenia and Vertigo in Aging Patients With Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal CancerOncologic Complications20 moreThe goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the cause of dizziness and decline in walking ability in in older adults ≥65 years during chemotherapy treatment for colorectal cancer. Another goal is to investigate if a comprehensive geriatric assessment and three months' specialized physical group-based exercise three times/week can counteract muscle weakness, vertigo, instability, impaired walking balance, and neuropathy
Efficacy of Roflumilast in Prevention of Peripheral Neuropathy
Peripheral NeuropathyThere are several mechanisms concerning pathophysiology of paclitaxel induced peripheral neuropathy. One of the main mechanisms is induction of Schwann cell dedifferentiation by paclitaxel. At the preclinical level, roflumilast potently inhibited paclitaxel-induced dedifferentiation of cultured Schwann cells, yet this positive effect have not been clinically investigated.
Nicotinamide Riboside for Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic Neuropathy PeripheralAt the current time there is no effective disease modifying therapy for diabetic neuropathy (DN). The proposed study design employs a quantifiable early measure of DN, intraepidermal nerve fiber density (IENFD), allowing for accurate assessment of actual nerve fiber density. Preclinical data supports the use of Niagen® (3-(Aminocarbonyl)-1-β-D-ribofuranosyl-pyridinium chloride - NR) as a potential therapy for diabetic neuropathy. Phase I data indicates safety in humans. This study seeks to investigate the use of Niagen® (NR) as a potential treatment for diabetic neuropathy in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus or impaired glucose tolerance over a 6 month period. The endpoint measures in addition to the IENFD with determine changes in clinical and electrophysiological outcomes, quality of life and biochemical measures.
Vit D and Peripheral Neuropathy in Taxane Naive Patients
Vitamin D DeficiencyPeripheral NeuropathyTo evaluate the efficacy of vit D supplement in cancer patients which receive taxane drugs with vit D deficiency and complaining from Peripheral neuropathy
WIREDUP: Wearable Insoles for Recurrent Diabetic Ulcer Prevention
DiabetesPeripheral Neuropathy2 moreThe primary aim of this study is to demonstrate the impact of the Orpyx® SI Sensory Insoles (Orpyx Medical Technologies Inc., Calgary AB, Canada) ("Orpyx" or "the Company") as an adjunct to the standard of care (SOC), as compared to SOC alone, on reducing plantar ulceration incidence in individuals who are at risk for developing diabetic foot complications. The secondary aims of this study are to evaluate participant quality of life, participant engagement, and economic impact, including cost-effectiveness and cost-utility. The study will also use the unique data set collected (plantar pressure, temperature, step count, movement and adherence feedback) to identify foot-loading histories that either lead to or prevent the development of ulceration in the diabetic foot.
Photobiomodulation for Prevention of Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Women With Breast...
Peripheral Nervous System Diseases AND Breast NeoplasmsDouble-blind Superiority Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial. Objective of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of photobiomodulation using the LED board in the prevention of peripheral neuropathy in the lower limbs in women with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy at the Cancer Hospital III of the National Cancer Institute (HCIII/INCA).
A Novel Limb Cryocompression System for Prevention of Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy...
Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral NeuropathyThe study conducted on cancer patients is designed to test safety and efficacy of limb hypothermia in cancer patients using the new Paxman Limb Cryocompression System (PLCS). Ultimately this will lead to the development of a therapy regime that will help to prevent chemotherapy-induced neuropathy in cancer patients.
Effects of an Exercise Intervention on Taxane-induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Breast Cancer Survivors...
CIPN - Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral NeuropathyThe purpose of this study is to examine the effects of an exercise program on the management of TIPN in breast cancer survivors. This experimental study utilizes purposive sampling to recruit 88 adults, newly diagnosed with stage I~III breast cancer women, who are expected to be treated with Taxane chemotherapy in a medical center located in central Taiwan. Participants will be randomly allocated to the experimental or observational group. The main outcomes are peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain. The 3~6 months home-based extremity exercise program will be intervened between newly diagnosed with breast cancer to the completion of chemotherapy. Participants have to perform a total of 50 minutes of exercise including the Ten Skilled Hand exercise fourth a day, 5 minutes each time and Buerger Allen exercise twice a day, 15 minutes each time. This study expects that the extremity exercise program will be able to prevent and manage peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain via increasing blood circulation. Moreover, the exercise program may also improve functioning and QOL in breast cancer survivors receiving Taxane chemotherapy.
The Effect of Related Blood Markers on Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Diabetic Peripheral NeuropathyThe goal of this observational study is to explore the relationship between related blood indicators and diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).
Morphological and Metabolic Changes of Dorsal Root Ganglion and Sympathetic Ganglion in Patients...
PainNeuropathy;PeripheralObject: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is pain that persists for 1-3 months after herpes zoster onset. It is the most common complication of herpes zoster and occurs in 15-40% of patients with herpes zoster. PHN has been suggested to be related with the lesion of doral root ganglion (DRG). However, the studies are almost limited to autopsies and animals , and the mechanism of PHN is still unclear. This study was conducted to investigate morphological and metabolic changes of DRG and sympathetic ganglion in patients with postherpetic neuralgia on MRI. Method: 30 patients diagnosed as PHN were recruited. The volume and fractional anisotropy of DRG of lesion dermatomes were measured under MRI, and compared with contralateral and adjacent DRG. The volume and fractional anisotropy of sympathetic ganglion of lesion dermatomes were also measured under MRI, and compared with contralateral and adjacent sympathetic ganglion. Then, the association between clinical phenotypes and DRG changes were analyzed.
