Slider Versus Tensioner Neural Mobilization in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic PainNeurodynamics, i.e., the mobilization of the peripheral nervous system, is a physical approach to the treatment of pain; the method relies on influencing pain physiology via mechanical treatment of neural tissues and the non-neural structures surrounding the nervous system. Neural mobilization (NM) is used to treat various disorders of the nervous system concerning the length and mobility of peripheral nerves, as the nerve mobilizing refers to techniques that help to reestablish motion between a nerve and its surrounding soft tissues, thus to treat the nerves that have become entangled within the soft tissue, as it leads to tension release on a nerve by stretching and pulling one end of the nerve during keeping the other end in a relaxed state.
Paclitaxel-induced Polyneuropathy in Breast Cancer: Early Detection, Risk Factors, Quality of Life...
Breast NeoplasmsBreast Cancer6 moreThis is a single center prospective observational cohort study that aims to: examine and identify possible risk and susceptibility factors for the incidence and progression of chemotherapy-induced polyneuropathy (CIPN) in female patients primarily operated for early non-metastatic breast cancer who will receive adjuvant chemotherapy containing paclitaxel test different neurophysiological methods for early detection of CIPN explore changes that underlie the development of CIPN in relation to clinical presentations, neurophysiological assessment, including measures of small nerve fiber dysfunction, and possible biochemical, metabolic and genetic associations explore the effects of CIPN in the patient's lifestyle and quality of life for up to 12 months after the initiation of treatment
Wii Fit Based Exercises and Proprioceptive Exercises in Diabetic Neuropathy Patients
Diabetic NeuropathiesThis project is a Randomized clinical trial that will be conducted to check the effects of Wii Fit Based Exercises and Proprioceptive training on Balance and Fall Risk in patients with Diabetic Neuropathy, duration of study will be of 6months, convenient sampling will be used, subject following eligibility criteria from Riphah Rehabilitation Centre, Patients will be randomly allocated into two groups; Group A will be treated with Wii Fit based exercises (40 mins session, 3 days/week, Penguin slide, soccer heading, tilt table, tightrope walking) & Group B will be treated with Proprioceptive training (40 min session, 3 days/week, toe walking, heel walking, cross-body leg swings right and left sides, partial squat, ). In both groups pre and post-test measurements of Balance and Fall of risk will be assessed through Berg Balance scale, STAR excursion, Modified Fall Efficacy scale, and Timed Up and Go (TUG). Evaluation will be done before the session start and at the end of 6th Week.
The Effectiveness and Cost-effectiveness of Acupuncture in Managing Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral...
Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral NeuropathyThe purpose of this study is to determine whether a course of acupuncture is effective in the management of peripheral neuropathy related pain in patients receiving chemotherapy.
Topical Cryotherapy in Reducing Pain in Patients With Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy...
Breast CarcinomaThis randomized pilot clinical trial studies topical cryotherapy (cooling hands and feet with ice bags) in reducing pain in patients with chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy or paclitaxel induced acute pain syndrome. Peripheral neuropathy is a nerve problem that causes pain, numbness, tingling, swelling, or muscle weakness in different parts of the body. Paclitaxel produces a disabling syndrome of acute aches and pains. Topical cryotherapy is being studied to see if it can help relieve pain from peripheral neuropathy or acute pain syndrome caused by chemotherapy.
Intravenous Immunoglobulin Therapy for Small Fiber Neuropathy
Small Fiber NeuropathySmall fiber neuropathy (SFN) is the most common cause of neuropathic pain in peripheral neuropathies, with a prevalence of at least 53/100.000. Patients with SFN may have excruciating pain and current anti-neuropathic and other pain drugs do not relief pain substantially. Several studies suggested an immunological basis in SFN and case studies have reported efficacy of treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) in patients with SFN. It is therefore conceivable that immunological mechanisms play a role in idiopathic SFN (I-SFN). However, to date no randomized controlled study with IVIg in patients with SFN has been performed. The aim of the current study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of IVIg in patients with I-SFN in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. The objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of IVIg treatment (4 courses of treatment, 3 weeks apart) compared to placebo on pain alleviation.
Phase 3 Gene Therapy for Painful Diabetic Neuropathy
Painful Diabetic NeuropathyDiabetic Neuropathy1 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine the safety and efficacy of bilateral intramuscular injections of VM202 versus placebo in the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. A total of 507 of 477 planned participants were randomized in a 2:1 ratio to one of two treatment groups. Note that 500 participants received IP treatment, whereas 7 participants did not receive IP treatment. Treatments - Engensis (VM202) - 336 Engensis of 318 planned participants Control - Placebo (VM202 vehicle) - 164 Placebo of 159 planned participants Randomization were stratified by current use of gabapentin and/or pregabalin.
