Innovative Treatment of Chemotherapy-Induced Painful Peripheral Neuropathy in Adolescents and Young...
Peripheral NeuropathyTo evaluate the efficacy and safety of Scrambler therapy (ST) for chemotherapy-induced painful peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), and the impact of ST on physical functioning and quality of life (QoL) in adolescents and young adults (AYA) cancer patients. In this proposed study, we will conduct a two-arm prospective, randomized wait-list controlled clinical trial to investigate the effectiveness of ST on pain and CIPN in AYAs with cancer.
Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Compared to Passive Assisted Neurodynamics in Brachial...
Percutaneous Electrical Nerve StimulationPeripheral Neuropathy1 moreBrachial plexus neuropathies, specifically of the median, radial, ulnar, suprascapular, axillary and dorsal scapular nerves, can arise when a peripheral nerve trunk or nerve root is subjected to injury, compression, inflammation or ischemia, resulting in reduced physical capabilities of the peripheral nervous system. Although pharmacological treatments provide mild symptomatic relief in the short term, they are not without side effects. Neurostimulation techniques may be an effective treatment option for peripheral brachial plexus neuropathies. Some of these procedures are transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) or percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (PENS). Although some case series have documented a positive effect in relation to ultrasound-guided PENS for subjects with subacromial pain syndrome or postsurgical pain, the lack of studies, to our knowledge, analyzing the effects of percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, in relation to pain and paresthesias in subjects with brachial plexus neuropathy, warrants investigation for this goal.
SON-080 in Patients With Persistent Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)
Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)The study will be conducted in adult patients with Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN) that has been persistent for at least 3 months following completion of chemotherapy. A total of 60 patients will be enrolled in equal numbers of a placebo group and two different SON-080 dose groups. Treatment period will be 12 weeks long and patients will be followed-up for an additional 12 weeks.
Efficacy and Safety of Duloxetine in Chinese Solid Tumor Patients With Taxanes-induced Painful Peripheral...
Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral NeuropathyPain1 moreThe study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of duloxetine in Chinese solid tumor patients with taxanes-induced painful peripheral neuropathy. Duloxetine will be given to patients who have grade 1 or higher sensory neuropathy according to the NCI Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) version 5.0 and at least 4 on a scale of 0 to 10 points, representing average chemotherapy-induced pain, after taxanes treatment. Patient-reported pain severity, functional interference, emotion condition and quality of Life will be assessed weekly using corresponding scales. Blood samples will be collected from each enrolled subjects before the start of treatment, and the potential biomarkers in predicting duloxetine efficacy or safety will be explored by genomic profiling.
Auricular Point Acupressure to Manage Chemotherapy Induced Neuropathy
Chemotherapy-induced NeuropathyThe proposed randomized control trial will evaluate auricular point acupressure (APA) on chemotherapy-induced neuropathy (CIN), rigorously considering point specificity and placebo effects by integrating self-report measures, psychophysical measures (QST), endogenous biomarkers (cytokines), and neuro-imaging to investigate APA's efficacy and underlying mechanism(s). The investigators will use a randomized control trial, three-group design: (1) APA Group, (2) Sham APA Control, and (3) Usual Care Control. A smartphone application for ecological momentary assessment (EMA) will be used to monitor APA adherence and capture momentary CIN severity and analgesic use.
Acupuncture in Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Women With Breast Cancer
Peripheral NeuropathyThe main purpose of this study is to define whether acupuncture in addition to the treatment of physician choice as per standard of care leads to a greater decrease of neuropathic pain as perceived by women with breast cancer who suffer from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy and neuropathic pain of hands and foots will be assessed by using a Number Rate Scale (NRS scale) and data will be compared between standard of care treatment group and acupuncture in addition to standard of care treatment group.
Safety of Cultured Allogeneic Adult Umbilical Cord Stem Cells for Trigeminal Neuralgia and Peripheral...
Peripheral NeuropathyTrigeminal NeuralgiaThis trial will study the safety and efficacy of intravenous infusion of cultured allogeneic adult umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia and Peripheral Neuropathy
Efficacy and Safety of ATX01 in Adult Patients With CIPN (Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy)...
Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral NeuropathyThe purpose of this clinical trial is to compare the efficacy of twice daily applications of ATX01 (10% & 15%) versus placebo during a 12-week treatment period in treating chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in adult cancer survivor patients.
Neurologic Stem Cell Treatment Study
Neurologic DisordersNervous System Diseases24 moreThis is a human clinical study involving the isolation of autologous bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSC) and transfer to the vascular system and inferior 1/3 of the nasal passages in order to determine if such a treatment will provide improvement in neurologic function for patients with certain neurologic conditions. http://mdstemcells.com/nest/
Platelet-rich Plasma Injection for Ulnar Neuropathy at Elbow
Ulnar Neuropathy at ElbowUlnar neuropathy at elbow (UNE) is the second common peripheral entrapment neuropathy after carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Although many conservative managements of UNE were found, their effectiveness were often unsatisfied without existed guideline. Recently, the perineural injection of 5% dextrose wate (D5W) is a novel management for CTS but its effect for UNE is not obviously as CTS. Hence, it is very important to find another novel injectate for UNE.
