CIPN and it's Impact on Quality of Life in Patients Receiving Platinum and Taxanes

Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Neuropathies are a major cause of moderate to severe impairments in cancer patients. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is one of the most frequent side effects caused by antineoplastic agents, with a prevalence from 19% to over 85%.

Focal Vibrations and Neuropathic Pain in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral NeuropathyDiabetic Neuropathies

Most of the literature found on whole body vibrations(WBV) instead of focal muscle vibrations (FMV) in diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients. The studies found on the effects of focal vibrations could not be generalised on the huge population of diabetes mellitus (DM) induced neuropathic pain because of small sample size and due to subordinate studies i.e, pilot studies done on the focal vibrations in which 3 different modes of vibrations is used without comparing with the control group. These studies are not much valuable in literature as well as for clinical purposes due to lack of control group. As mentioned in previous studies that better results achieved with the WBV on pain in diabetic peripheral neuropathyso that the hypothesis can be made that when FMV directly applies on the focal region that may influence the pain and/or peripheral neuropathy status.

Direct Current Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation for Treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy

Neuropathy

This study will compare two methods of electrical stimulation (alternating current and direct current) as an adjunctive therapy to treating peripheral neuropathy. Both types of electrical stimulation have been used in clinical practice for physical therapy, however direct current stimulation is much less common and there is less known about their impact on physical therapy outcomes. The aim of this project is to show the efficacy of a novel device, the Neubie direct current device, compared to traditional TENS unit, in clinical physical therapy treatment of neuropathy. Outcomes measured will include three methods of two-point discrimination, vibration sense, pain, and score on the modified Toronto Clinical Neuropathy scale.

Perineural Injection Therapy for Ulnar Neuropathy at Elbow

Ulnar Neuropathy at Elbow

Ulnar neuropathy at elbow (UNE) is the second common peripheral entrapment neuropathy. Although many conservative managements of UNE, the effectiveness of these methods are unsatisfied especial the moderate degree of UNE. Recently, ultrasound-guided perineural injection therapy (PIT) with 5% dextrose is progressively applicated for clinical treatment for entrapment neuropathy. However, current studies have not proved the effects of PIT on peripheral neuropathy because these studies enrolled small number of patients and lacked controlled design. We design a randomized, double-blind, controlled trail to assess the effect after ultrasound-guided PIT with 5% dextrose in patients with mild and moderate UNE.

A Study of the Efficacy and Safety of PerOx Quench on the Prevention of Oxaliplatin Treatment Induced...

Colorectal CancerAdvanced Gastric Cancer1 more

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a progressive, enduring, and often irreversible condition featuring pain, numbness, tingling and sensitivity to cold in the hands and feet (sometimes progressing to the arms and legs) that afflicts between 30 and 40 percent of patients undergoing chemotherapy. American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guidance on The Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO, 2014 April 14) does not recommend any prophylaxis regimen for CIPN. PerOx Quench has unique membrane protection and anti-oxidative function as a special food, that's why to try to explore its preventive effects on CIPN prevention induced by Oxaliplatin for colorectal cancer or gastric cancer chemotherapy.

A Efficacy and Safety Study of Intramuscular Injection of Human Placenta-Derived Cells (PDA-002)...

Diabetic NephropathiesPeripheral Nervous System Diseases

This is a Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose range finding study in subjects who have diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The study will enroll approximately 24 subjects. Subjects will be randomized to receive one of 3 treatments: PDA-002 (3 x 10^6 cells), PDA-002 (30 x 10^6 cells), or placebo (vehicle control) in a 1:1:1 randomization approach. Investigational product or placebo will be administered monthly (3 administrations total on Study Days 1, 29, and 57).

Exercise-facilitated Neurorehabilitation in Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic Neuropathy

This study will determine the type and combination of exercise needed to rehabilitate the neuro-compromised diabetic Veteran. Guided exercise protocols may prove to be practical therapeutic options for the prophylactic management of diabetic subjects with neuropathy.

Treatment Trial Using Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Treatment of Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral...

Peripheral Neuropathy

The purpose of this research study is to determine if treatment with Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is effective in treating the pain, numbness or tingling patients are experiencing following their chemotherapy. The investigators would also like to know the number of treatments that were needed in order to reduce their symptoms.
