In this proposal, the investigators will demonstrate the feasibility and noninferiority of telerobotic ultrasonography as compared to traditional manual acquisition in performing a limited carotid Duplex examination and in carotid plaque detection.

The purpose of this study is to establish the surgical risk factors and differences between different diseases in elderly patients submitted to elective surgery in our institution.

Monoclonal antibodies against PCSK9 are innovative agents that provide very potent LDL reduction when administered on top of statins. PCSK9 antibodies prevent LDL receptor degradation and enhance circulatory LDL cholesterol clearance. High LDL is a major risk factor for PAD and therefore lipid-lowering therapy constitutes another important therapeutic intervention for patients with PAD. Evolocumab is a common PCSK-9 inhibitor that has been shown to reduce plasma LDL. In this study sixty subjects will be treated with high dose statins for 8 weeks followed by 8 weeks of high dose statin + evolocumab (420mg/4 wk) therapy. The laboratory assessments will be performed at the screening (baseline), after 8 weeks of high-dose statin therapy, and 24 hr and 8 weeks after high dose statin + evolocumab therapy

Prospective mono-centric trial on patients with peripheral arterial disease and intermittent claudication that receive supervised exercise therapy (group 1) vs. supervised exercise therapy + daily transcutaneous electro-stimulation of the calf muscles.

Current assessment of lower limb ischemia cannot reflect the location and degree of ischemia. Tissue perfusion assessment was used in the diagnosis and treatment of lower limb ischemia in this project, and the quantitative evaluation of ischemia degree was realized by using its advantages of quantitative analysis and perfusion imaging.

Study of heterogeneity in associations between social deprivation and the initial presentation of 12 cardiovascular diseases.

Serum uric acid level is a commonly measured biomarker. The association between serum uric acid level and the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases has been observed in some studies, while others showed controversial results. Estimation of this association may help to predict cardiovascular outcomes and may guide new treatment strategies. The hypothesis is that increased serum uric acid level is associated with a range of cardiovascular diseases.

This is a proof-of-concept study to collect images to train a CADe algorithm to predict the correct level of amputation in individuals scheduled for amputation secondary to PAD.

Tissue perfusion assessment is key to more accurate measurement of foot ischemia, which is in turn an important factor in appropriate treatment decisions. In practice though, tissue perfusion measurements are not routinely undertaken as few practical solutions exist that are easy to use and fit in everyday clinical practice. Pedra has developed a novel, easy to use, non-invasive device that can be used in practice to better inform treatment decisions.
