RATE Registry - Registry of Atrial Tachyarrhythmia/Atrial Fibrillation (AT/AF) Episodes in the Cardiac...
Atrial FibrillationThe purpose of this registry is to produce a prospective, outcome-oriented registry to document the prevalence of AT/AF in the CRM population by using the Advanced AT/AF Diagnostics in select SJM devices.
Follow-up Study of the RAI-Treated Hyperthyroid Patients
HyperthyroidismCardiovascular Diseases1 morePrevious studies of hyperthyroid patients suggest that they remain at increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity after restoring euthyroidism. The study objective is to compare the rate and causes of hospitalization of hyperthyroid patients treated with radioactive iodine (RAI) with those of an age- and gender-matched reference population in a long-term follow-up study.
Lifetime Risk for Cardiovascular Disease Among Non-White Ethnic Groups
Cardiovascular DiseasesCoronary Disease3 moreCardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Currently, there is little information about the lifetime risk of CVD among non-white ethnic groups. This study will analyze data from participants in several ongoing clinical studies to identify the lifetime risk for CVD among various ethnicities.
Extended ECG Monitoring in HCM Patients
Hypertrophic CardiomyopathyNonsustained Ventricular Tachycardia3 moreThe purpose of this study is to determine, among a large cohort of 300 consecutive patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, if extended ambulatory monitoring using the iRhythm Technologies, Inc. Zio XT device results in identifying a greater burden of nonsustained ventricular tachyarrhythmia (nsVT) compared to current ACCF/AHA guideline recommended 48-hour monitoring.
Burden of Ischemic Stroke and Intake of Oral Anticoagulants in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation...
Atrial FibrillationThis study will characterize patients with ischemic stroke, a condition which occurs when a vessel supplying blood to the brain is obstructed, and a subpopulation of patients with irregular and often rapid heart rate (atrial fibrillation) in a UK general population using The Health Improvement Network (THIN) database. The main aim of the study is to estimate in how many patients atrial fibrillation was diagnosed at the moment of stroke and to describe whether these patients received OAC at the time of the stroke. In addition, researchers want to learn about the relative risk of ischemic stroke when such patients did not continue OAC treatment.
Study Aims to Collect Information in Routine Clinical Practice in Italy About the Number of Patients...
Non-valvular Atrial FibrillationWhile it is well known that stopping or changing medication with blood thinners in patients who suffer from non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) increases the risk of ischemic stroke (a condition which occurs when a vessel supplying blood to the brain is obstructed), bleeding or thromboembolism (a condition that happens when a blood clot forms elsewhere in the body and travels through the blood stream to plug another vessel), limited data are available on the number of NVAF patients and the reasons why NVAF patients in Italy stop or change their treatment with blood thinners to prevent stroke or thromboembolism. By following the NVAF patients in routine clinical practice in Italy who are treated with rivaroxaban to prevent stroke or systemic embolism researchers want to find out how many NVAF patients and for what reasons NVAF patients stopped or changed rivaroxaban treatment. Study data will be collected through patients' routine visits at their treating doctor over a period of 24 months for each patient.
Survey on Belgian Patients Suffering From Irregular Heartbeat and Starting Treatment With a Drug...
Atrial FibrillationIn this study researchers want to learn more about the patient's and treating doctor's concerns about possible bleedings during treatment with drugs preventing blood clots in blood vessels and the heart - so called blood thinner. The study also wants to find out more about the patient's knowledge on the importance, risks and benefits of treatment with this drug group. Patients with irregular heartbeat not caused by valvular heart disease who will start treatment with a blood thinner will be asked by their treating cardiologist to complete a questionnaire related to their knowledge and fear of possible bleedings or stroke (blockage or rupture of a blood vessel to the brain) due to the intake of a blood thinner. The treating doctor will complete a similar questionnaire. The study plans to involve 15 cardiologists and 300 patients in Belgium.
Noninvasive 3D Mapping in Persistent Atrial Fibrillation, to Describe Modifications of the Arrhythmogenic...
Atrial FibrillationPersistentAtrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia in adults. It is a major cause of ischemic stroke and heart failure. Intravascular cardiac ablation of the left atrium by catheter delivery is an efficient treatment to restore sinus rhythm. AF ablation is a class IIa treatment for patients with symptomatic persistent AF refractory or intolerant to antiarrhythmic medication. There are still many debates considering the ablation strategy. The pulmonary veins remain the cornerstone of AF ablation therapy, even in persistent AF. There is a large electrical remodeling occurring in the left atrium between paroxysmal AF, early persistent AF and long-standing persistent AF. However, no multicentric and randomized study has demonstrated so far the interest of targeting other left atrial substrate, such as rotors or focal sources. Our study aims to describe with a noninvasive mapping system the arrhythmogenic substrate of persistent AF > 6 months pre- and post-cardioversion, and after pulmonary vein isolation.
Batch Enrollment for AI-Guided Intervention to Lower Neurologic Events in Unrecognized AF
Atrial FibrillationThis is a prospective study to test a novel artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled electrocardiogram (ECG)-based screening tool for improving the diagnosis of unrecognized atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke prevention.
A Wearable With Photoplethysmography and 6-lead Electrocardiography for Atrial Fibrillation Detection...
Atrial FibrillationA single center prospective case-control study to evaluate ability of a wearable to differentiate between atrial fibrillation (AF) and sinus rhythm (SR).
