High Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Admitted to an Emergency...
Atrial FibrillationThe purpose of this study was to collect data on the prevalence and clinical significance of elevated cardiac troponin in a large registry of unselected patients with atrial fibrillation presenting to an emergency department.
Vagus Nerve Injury Post Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationGastrointestinal Tract1 moreThis study is an observational study designed to determine the extent of gastrointestinal (GI) post-procedure complications after Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation (RFCA) for atrial fibrillation (AF). This exploratory study will evaluate patient symptoms prior to the RFCA procedure, at 1 month post RFCA procedure, and at 3 months post RFCA procedure, through the administration of a questionnaire. The purpose of this study is to determine if vagus nerve injury resulting from RFCA for AF increases the risk of post-procedure GI complications that may present as temporary or permanent symptoms.
INtra-procedural ultraSound Imaging During Pulmonary Veins Isolation
Atrial FibrillationOne of the biggest limitations of the currently used percutaneous techniques for Pulmonary Vein Isolation (PVI) in the setting of atrial fibrillation ablation is the lack of real-time information about the left atrial (LA) wall thickness and about its acute changes during energy delivery for ablation. This makes difficult to predict the achievement of transmural lesions, to identify the possible causes of ablation failure and also to avoid the occurrence of perforation and/or other collateral damage. Computed tomography (CT) is a reliable technique for measurement of the LA wall thickness but it cannot be used during the ablation procedure and its extensive use is limited by the need of ionizing radiation. Preliminary data from animal studies support the accuracy of real-time ultrasound imaging modalities such as intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) or Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) imaging for measurement of LA wall thickness and monitoring of its acute changes related to catheter ablation. The pilot study INSIDE PVs has been primarily designed to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of intravascular imaging techniques for real-time imaging of the LA wall thickness during AF ablation.
Burden of Illness in Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial FibrillationThe overall goal of this retrospective registry study is to investigate the burden-of.illness in atrial fibrillation (AF) in Denmark. Several Danish registries will be utilized to collect information on the diseases epidemiology including incidence and prevalence of AF and stroke as well as a stroke risk stratification of the Danish AF-population, the clinical and economical burden (in terms of direct and indirect cost) of AF and stroke to Danish patients, healthcare providers / healthcare system and society as well as describing treatment patterns with anticoagulant agents and their consequences in terms of stroke, bleeds, death and according cost in a real-life setting.
Evaluation of Hospital Readmissions Among Hospitalized Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation (NVAF) Patients...
Nonvalvular Atrial FibrillationThe overall objective of this proposal is to execute a real-world database analysis to evaluate hospital readmissions among hospitalized nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients in the U.S Primary objective: To determine the proportions of NVAF patients with bleeding-related hospital readmissions that occur within 30 days of the hospitalization of NVAF patients treated with the new oral anticoagulants (NOACs), dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban or warfarin in the inpatient setting Secondary objectives: To determine the cost associated with bleeding-related hospital readmissions that occur within 30 days of the hospitalization of NVAF patients treated with dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban or warfarin in the inpatient setting To determine the proportions of NVAF patients with all cause hospital readmissions and the associated costs that occur within 30 days of the hospitalization of NVAF patients treated with dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban or warfarin in the inpatient setting.
A Cross-sectional Study for the Determination of the Prevalence of Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation...
HypertensionAtrial FibrillationArterial hypertension has been recognized as a major causal factor for atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia. In light of its worldwide increasing prevalence and incidence and the accompanied increase in the risk of stroke, thromboembolic events and mortality, AF has emerged as a global healthcare problem. Early diagnosis of AF, prior to the occurrence of complications is a recognized priority for the prevention of strokes. Once diagnosed, anticoagulant therapy is the cornerstone in the management of the risk of stroke in AF patients. The 2012 ESC Guidelines recommend the use of a risk factor-based approach to stroke risk stratification for AF patients. This study aims towards gaining real-world data on the prevalence of non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) among hypertensives in Greece. The rate of ESC guideline-adherent antithrombotic therapy on the basis of stroke and bleeding risk assessments, and factors influencing treatment decision-making will be assessed as well in patients diagnosed with the arrhythmia. Finally, potential differences in the NVAF prevalence in adequately and inadequately controlled hypertensives will be documented.
Length of Stay in NVAF Patients Hospitalized and Initiated With Dabigatran or Warfarin in Japan...
Atrial FibrillationThe primary objective of this study is to compare the Length of Stay from treatment of oral anticoagulant initiation to hospital discharge of patients hospitalized and subsequently treated with dabigatran or warfarin for non-valvular atrial fibrillation in a real-world Japanese clinical practice. The secondary objective of the study is to compare LoS of patients hospitalized with 1) acute ischemic stroke, and 2) due to non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Other objectives are (1) to compare the in-hospital direct and indirect-related costs between dabigatran and warfarin, and (2) to compare the rates of patients directly discharged at home after the index hospitalization between dabigatran and warfarin.
Anticoagulation Preference by AF Patients Study
Atrial FibrillationThe main research question of this patient survey is to assess AF (Atrial Fibrillation) patients' preferences associated with different attributes which describe the different available anticoagulation treatment options (Vitamin K Antagonists [VKA] or New Oral Anticoagulants [NOACs] and, in case of NOACs, Apixaban, Dabigatran, Edoxaban or Rivaroxaban). VKAs (Marcoumar®, Sintrom ®) will be grouped together and compared to Rivaroxaban.
