Individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) are the quintessential multi-problem patients, often presenting to treatment with numerous dysfunctional behaviors and comorbid diagnoses. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive, cognitive-behavioral treatment for BPD that has been shown effective in reducing the primary problems it is designed to treat; namely, the frequency and severity of self-injurious and suicidal behavior, maintenance in treatment, and severe problems in living. However, the DBT treatment manual does not currently include a protocol specifying when or how to treat posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a comorbid diagnosis that is prevalent in BPD patients and may maintain or exacerbate BPD criterion behaviors. Similarly, many of the existing treatment outcome studies for PTSD have excluded suicidal, substance abusing, and multiply diagnosed patients, thereby making it difficult to determine the generalizability of these approaches to individuals with BPD. The research proposed here is focused on the development of a protocol based on Prolonged Exposure therapy to treat PTSD in BPD patients that can be integrated into standard DBT, as well as the initial evaluation of this protocol's feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy. The treatment development and pilot testing process will occur in two phases, including measure development and standardization of the treatment protocol via clinical pre-testing (Phase 1); and pilot and feasibility testing of the intervention via a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing standard DBT + PTSD Protocol to standard DBT Only (Phase 2). Information gathered during the pilot RCT will be used to inform the design and conduct of a subsequent full-scale RCT. This research has the potential to significantly expand and improve upon the most empirically supported treatment currently available for BPD, while also demonstrating that exposure treatments for PTSD can be implemented safely and effectively in a BPD population.

Our study aims at contributing to a valid appraisal of the magnitude of naltrexone efficacy as an antidissociative agent by using a double-blind randomized controlled trial.

Primary purpose : to assess the effect on neuropsychological tasks related to planning of 10 daily sessions of right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex with High-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on borderline personality disorder (BPD) patients. Hypothesis : BPD patients receiving 10 sessions of rTMS will have greater improvement in the average number of move to achieve tasks of the Tower of London, than those receiving sham rTMS.

Analysis of the ongoing patient-therapist interaction, the transference, is considered a key active ingredient in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.However, one century after Sigmund Freuds's famous "Dora" case, the first clinical description of transference, no study of transference interpretations have been published.In the present study 100 out-patients were randomized to receive one year weekly dynamic psychotherapy, with and without transference interpretations. That is, one treatment component,transference interpretations, were added to a comparison condition, therapy of the same format, by the same therapists, but without use of transference interpretation. All treatment session were audiotaped, and treatment integrity have been carefully checked. Patients were evaluated at treatment termination, one year after treatment termination and three years after treatment termination. Enrollment of patients started january 1993, and all follow-up evaluations completed by December 2005.

The goals of this study are to determine: the safety of olanzapine and any side effects that might be associated with it, how olanzapine compares to placebo, whether olanzapine can help patients with symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and how much olanzapine should be given to patients.

The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of risperidone compared to placebo in the treatment of the psychotic-like and deficit symptoms of schizotypal personality disorder (SPD). Treatment with risperidone, a 5HT2 and dopamine D2 blocking agent, holds particular promise in the treatment of SPD. Unlike traditional antipsychotics, risperidone targets the deficit or negative symptoms of schizophrenia. The deficit-like symptoms of SPD are therefore also likely respond to treatment with risperidone. One common complication in the present psychopharmacologic treatment of SPD with traditional neuroleptics is the fact that many patients discontinue treatment due to the medication-induced dysphoria. Given initial reports and the serotonergic component of the risperidone mechanism, risperidone is anticipated to produce little or no dysphoria.

The purpose of the study is to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a modified form of psychodynamic psychotherapy for persons suffering from co-occurring borderline personality disorder and an alcohol use disorder.

Purpose: The aim of the current study was to evaluate the efficacy of online Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (e-DBT) in the treatment of individuals with symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Method: Study participants diagnosed with BPD were offered treatment options of either online or in-person format of a DBT skills-building program. During each session, participants were provided with both the material and feedback regarding their previous week's homework. e-DBT protocol and content was designed to mirror in-person content. Participants were assessed by using a Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS).

Background: Strengthening the Healthy Adult schema mode is the ultimate goal in Schema Therapy, working as an assumed mechanism of long-term change through improved positive mental health. Evidence-based interventions to directly strengthen this Healthy Adult mode are sparse. Objective: To study the feasibility, acceptability and effectiveness of the treatment protocol 'Schema Therapy and the Healthy Adult' (ST-HA) during the final stage of schema therapy in adult outpatients with personality- or chronic psychopathology. Method: In this study a single case experimental design (n = 8) with multiple measures will be used, to determine the effects of the ST-HA protocol on self-compassion, well-being, positive affect and Healthy Adult functioning. For each participant a no-treatment randomized baseline period (2-5 weeks) will be compared with treatment (ST-HA, 10 weekly sessions) and post-treatment follow-up (at 1- and 3-months). Assessments include brief diaries regarding self-compassion and Healthy Adult functioning (daily from baseline to end of intervention, and 7-days at 1- and 3-months follow-up) and standardized questionnaires for measuring weekly changes in self-compassion, well-being and adaptive schema modes. During phase changes additional measures of trait self-compassion, positive affect, adaptive schema modes and symptomatic distress will be administered.

There are currently no pharmacological treatments approved to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD). This trial will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of brexpiprazole for the treatment of participants diagnosed with BPD to provide a pharmacological treatment for BPD.
