Effectiveness of a One-day Psychoeducation Program on Internalized Stigmatization for BPD Patients...
Borderline Personality DisorderEducation day on borderline personality disorder (BPD), including a transmission of current scientific knowledge on the disease. A dimensional understanding of BPD is delivered as well as disidentification of oneself to the symptoms of borderline personality disorder (Ducasse 2020 Eur Arch Psychiatry Clin Neurosci). The main objective is to evaluate the impact of borderline education day on self-stigma.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Personality Structure
Personality DisordersSocial Withdrawal of Childhood or Adolescence1 moreThe study plan outlined here represents an investigation of instruments on the patients treated in the acute ward of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE). The psychosocial burden of the affected children and adolescents is evident due to the severity of the disorders leading to specific admission. The psychosocial burden can be defined as "psychological, social, or school-occupational functional impairment [...] that has arisen as a consequence of a mental disorder, a specific developmental disorder, or an intellectual impairment". The current research project aims to survey the severity of psychosocial distress, personality functioning impairment, and social withdrawal. A better knowledge of these factors may contribute to a more suitable, specialized treatment offer on the acute ward in the medium term.
Calling for Care: Cell Phones for Mood Telemetry in Teens
Bipolar DisorderCyclothymia1 moreWe will modify our existing VMQ/VADIS mood telemetry software to run on a Motorola platform, and enhance it to collect information on both mood symptoms (currently covered by the VMQ/VADIS) as well as daily life stressors (currently outside the VMQ/VADIS' scope). By doing so, we will be able us to examine the role of daily stressors in the lives of teens with and without mood swings, to identify how changes in mood triggered by stressful events are similar to or different from mood changes linked to the bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or other forms of affective instability.
EEG Objectification in Neuropsychiatry
Personality DisorderDepression3 moreThe main objective of the study is to evaluate the use of EEG in the management and follow-up of neuropsychiatric disorders. Secondary objectives are therefore better understanding of the pathological activations in neural network during neuropsychiatric disorders, their clinical evolution and response to therapies.
Evaluating the Cost Effectiveness of ISTDP: A Quasi Experimental Study
AnxietySomatoform Disorders3 moreObjective: To evaluate whether or not cases treated with Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) facilitate healthcare cost reduction, whether any observed reduction is greater than that of a control group and whether any such gains would be maintained in follow up. Design: A quasi-experimental design was employed in which pre and post healthcare cost and usage data were extracted for all ISTDP treated cases from 1999 to 2008 and compared to parallel measures of a control group of cases referred but never treated.
Familial Schizophrenia and Spectrum Personality Disorders
SchizophreniaWe propose to recruit 150 case families (i.e., families with a schizophrenia proband), 150 control families, and 45 control subjects who exhibit schizophrenia spectrum personality symptoms in the absence of a family history of schizophrenia. Participants will undergo a number of clinical, electrophysiological, perceptual, and cognitive assessments. These data will be used to identify phenotypes likely to be associated with genetic risk for schizophrenia, and to determine how these phenotypes aggregate in families. Some of the analyses will focus on examining associations between candidate genes and these alternative phenotypes. Thus if we are not able to recruit relatives we may still collect these phenotypic data in probands and their genetic sample for future genotype/phenotype association studies. Testing procedures require a 10-12 hour time commitment and testing will be completed over 2 or more days. Participants will be asked to give a blood (or saliva if difficult to obtain blood sample for instance because of fear of blood draws), which will be stored for future genetic analyses.
ADH.E.R.E.: Therapeutic ADHerence and Treatment Strategies: A Mental Health Registry
SchizophreniaBipolar Disorder2 moreThe purpose of this study is to find out how well new treatment plans are followed by outpatients with major mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, personality disorder) and to determine the relationship between a diagnosis of schizophrenia and compliance with a treatment plan.
User Satisfaction Survey - Personality Disorder Service
Borderline Personality DisorderCan we improve our community partners satisfaction with a change in how psychiatric consultations are delivered to their clients by our psychiatrist? This survey of users of the service will compare the level of satisfaction before(retrospectively) to after the way the service is provided is changed.
Schizotypal Personality Disorder Risperidone
Schizotypal Personality DisorderNeurophysiological indices of self-monitoring were assessed in a group of patients with Schizotypal Personality Disorder (SPD) and a control group. Both groups were assessed after the administration of risperidone and placebo.
Parenting Skills for Mothers With Borderline Personality Disorder: A Newly Developed Group Training...
Borderline Personality DisorderN=15 mothers with Borderline Personality Disorder who had young children (aged 0-6 years) participated in a 12-week training program. To estimate the participants' impairment, parental stress and psychological distress were assessed before the training. After the training, participants and trainers were asked to provide feedback regarding the valuation of and the changes due to the training.
