Early Access Program With Arimoclomol in US Patients With NPC
Niemann-Pick DiseaseType CNPC is a rare, relentlessly progressive, neurological disease and associated with serious morbidity and shortened life expectancy. The purpose of this Expanded Access Program is to provide early access to arimoclomol for patients with Niemann-Pick Type C disease who, in the opinion and the clinical judgement of the treating physician, may benefit from treatment with arimoclomol. Participants will receive treatment with arimoclomol until their doctor finds it does not help them anymore, they withdraw, or the study is stopped for any reason.
Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease Phenotypes: Neuropsychology and Neural Networks
Alzheimer DiseaseEarly Onset12 moreThis study attempts to identify two types of AD by using clinical and cognitive tasks and brain imaging. The subtypes of AD are separated into a "typical" group (memory loss) and a "variant" group (language, visuospatial, and other cognitive difficulties). Performance on the clinical tasks and brain imaging will be compared among the young-onset Alzheimer's disease group, a late-onset Alzheimer's disease group, and a control group.
Investigating Lysosomal Storage Diseases in Minority Groups
Lysosomal Storage DisordersGaucher Disease3 moreAlthough lysosomal storage disorders, such as Fabry disease, Gaucher disease, and Pompe disease, represent serious challenges in the healthcare system, no study has yet investigated the prevalence of these diseases in the US. Frequently, patients show progressive worsening of symptoms for several years before they get diagnosed. Since many of these diseases can be managed therapeutically, it is important to identify and treat patients in order to avoid organ damage. The investigators aim to undertake a screening study that identifies undiagnosed patients with lysosomal storage disorders and determine the prevalence of these diseases with special focus on underrepresented minority groups.
4-Repeat Tauopathy Neuroimaging Initiative - Cycle 2
Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD)Corticobasal Syndrome (CBS)4 moreThe goal of this study is to identify the most reliable methods of analysis for tracking CBD, PSP, and o/vPSP over time. The results from this study may be used in the future to calculate statistical power for clinical drug trials. The study will also provide information about the relative value of novel imaging techniques for diagnosis, as well as the value of imaging techniques versus testing of blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) 'biomarkers'.
Study of Social Behavior and Emotion in Frontotemporal Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease and Controls...
Frontotemporal DementiaFrontotemporal Degeneration2 moreThis study is designed to document the loss of sociomoral emotions (like empathy, guilt, and embarrassment) in patients with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia. The loss of these emotions, which function as the motivators for social behavior, will manifest in specific interpersonal behaviors. These behaviors will correlate with regional changes in regional changes in medial frontal and anterior temporal lobes. These social and emotional changes will be compared with a young-onset Alzheimer's disease comparison group.
Study of Pulmonary Complications in Pediatric Patients With Storage Disorders Undergoing Allogeneic...
I Cell DiseaseFucosidosis10 moreOBJECTIVES: I. Evaluate bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum obtained from pediatric patients with storage disorders prior to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for the presence of proinflammatory cytokines and for the production of nitric oxide by alveolar macrophages to identify possible risk factors for pulmonary complications. II. Investigate the underlying mechanism for the development of significant pulmonary complications in these patients during HSCT. III. Evaluate bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum obtained from these same patients at the time a pulmonary complication develops post-HSCT, or at 60 days post-HSCT if there has been no pulmonary complications.
ECOCAPTURE for the Assessment of Apathy Under Real-life Conditions
Frontotemporal DementiaBehavioral Variant1 moreECOCAPTURE@HOME is a study which is currently being developed with the objective to capture the behavioral signature of apathy in everyday life context through remote monitoring of participants' behavior for about one month. Participants will not only be patients with apathy but also their spouse caregiver. Behavioral markers of apathy will be extracted from a combination of: 1/ objective physiological data from sensors on a bracelet worn by participants; 2/ subjective data filled by the caregiver through an application. Thus investigators will collect a pool of metrics and show they can measure three assumed behavioral markers of apathy (daytime activity, quality of sleep and emotional arousal), which in turn allow to predict caregiver's perception of the dyad's psychological state. The final goal is to lay the foundations for the development of a clinical tool for the remote follow-up of patient-caregiver couples.
