Since steroids carry a moderate beneficial effect in Bell's palsy, and to address this question, valacyclovir was added to prednisone for the treatment of this condition.

Loading Gait in Spatic Cerebral Palsy

Spastic Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy

The purpose of this study is to observe the behavior of kinematic variables in children with spastic hemiparetic cerebral palsy (SHCP), immediately after treadmill gait training with ankle loading. The children underwent a single treadmill training session with ankle loading. The kinematic parameters were assessed in three phases: before training (PRE); immediately after training (POST); and 5 minutes after the end of training (FOLLOW UP). The investigators hypothesized that the treadmill gait training with additional lower limb loading would be a disturbance capable of modifying the locomotor strategy of children with SHCP, by the increase in kinematic parameters in the swing phase of gait.

The primary aim of this Phase II trial is to determine whether it is sufficiently likely that CTX DP treatment at a dose level of 20 million cells improves the recovery in the use of the paretic arm in acute stroke patients to justify a subsequent larger prospectively controlled study. This study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of intracerebral CTX DP at a dose level of 20 million cells in patients with paresis of an arm following an ischaemic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stoke. Eligible patients will have no useful function of the paretic arm a minimum of 28 days after the ischaemic stroke (a modified NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Motor Arm Score of 2, 3 or 4 for the affected arm).

Forty children with cerebellar ataxia ranged in age from five to nine years old, they were randomly assigned into two matched control and study groups. The control groups received the selected physical therapy program three times weekly one hour per session while the study group received core stability training for 30 minutes in addition to the selected physical therapy program. Both groups were evaluated by SARA Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia, Balance Error Scoring Systems scale, Bruininks-Oseretsky test of motor Proficiency 2ed subtest 4 (bilateral coordination), and subtest 7 (upper limb coordination), and HUMAC Balance System before and after two months of intervention.

Gait disorder is one of the important therapeutic goals of children with cerebral palsy, and recently robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) induces changes in brain plasticity, so it will help improve gross motor control and coordination control.

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about the usefulness of a physical therapy treatment that combines robot-assisted walking with electrical impulses that help to make muscles contract. This treatment is intended for children with cerebral palsy. Up to eleven children with cerebral palsy will receive up to 18 treatments and will have several evaluations before and after treatment.
