Retrospective Study of Carebot AI CXR Performance in Preclinical Practice

Artificial IntelligenceLung Diseases10 more

The purpose of this study is to describe the design, methodology and evaluation of the preclinical test of Carebot AI CXR software, and to provide evidence that the investigated medical device meets user requirements in accordance with its intended use. Carebot AI CXR is defined as a recommendation system (classification "prediction") based on computer-aided detection. The software can be used in a preclinical deployment at a selected site before interpretation (prioritization, display of all results and heatmaps) or after interpretation (verification of findings) of CXR images, and in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Given this, a retrospective study is performed to test the clinical effectiveness on existing CXRs.

Intrapleural Minocycline Following Simple Aspiration for Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax

Pneumothorax

The optimal initial management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) remains controversial. This study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of additional minocycline pleurodesis after successful aspiration of the first episode of PSP.

Utility of Disconnection Technique for One Lung Ventilation

Pneumothorax

Lung isolation technique is useful for lung or heart surgeries for better visualization. Double lumen endobronchial tube and bronchial blocker are available for lung isolation. Adding disconnection technique before lung isolation is helpful to accelerate the lung deflation. However, the utility of disconnection technique has never been evaluated in comparison of double lumen tube and bronchial blocker. Therefore, the utility of disconnection technique in two different lung isolation technique, double lumen tube and bronchial blocker will be evaluated

Computerized Lung Sound Analysis

PneumothoraxPulmonary Fibrosis

This clinical trial is conducted within the research project 'Computerized Lung Sound Analysis'. The research goal is the development of a system enabling the automatic classification of lung sounds, which will result in a decision support system for physicians. The objective of this trial is to create a small lung sound corpus, enabling the development of a prototype of the described system. Therefore, investigators record lung sounds with several lung sound transducers distributed on the posterior chest of human test subjects.

Education and Training Competences in Thoracic Ultrasound

Respiratory FailureDyspnea3 more

The use of thoracic ultrasound has expanded widely within the las couple of years, and several studies have proved a high diagnostic accuracy for many of the most common causes of respiratory failure and dyspnoea. The ultrasound scan is a bed-side, and dynamic examination, which demands sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge and competence by the operator, but so far, no studies have explored the effect of simulation-based training for gaining adequate competence compared to traditional hands-on training on healthy figurants. The aim of this study is to examine whether TUS training on a simulator is superior to training on healthy figurants. Secondly, to examine whether the choice of hands-on training has an effect on the number of examinations performed by the trainees from baseline to 4 months follow-up.

Video-guided Percutaneous Tracheostomy (PCT) Versus Conventional PCT: Comparing Safety and Efficacy...

BleedingHypoxia3 more

The purpose of this study is to compare the feasibility, safety, efficacy and ease of performance of a video-assisted PCT (via an endotracheal tube embedded with a mini video-camera) with the standard ("blind") PCT technique.

A Comparative Study Between Regional Anesthesia in Thoracoscopes and the Conventional General Anesthesia...

Pleural EffusionMalignant11 more

Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is usually performed with general anesthesia and single lung ventilation. However, performing thoracic surgery under awake regional anesthesia has several potential advantages including avoidance of airway trauma and ventilator dependence associated with endotracheal intubation, besides promoting enhanced recovery after surgery and shorter mean hospital stay.

Video-guided Percutaneous Tracheostomy (PCT): A Feasibility Study

BleedingHypoxia3 more

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of an endotracheal tube embedded with a mini video-camera as a guiding tool for percutaneous tracheostomy.
