The RA PROTECTION Study

Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is a prospective, multi-center, double-blind, randomized, controlled pilot study to assess safety and efficacy of the Vorso PROTECT System in patients who have moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. Eligible participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio of treatment to control (non- therapeutic) group after it has been determined they meet all of the inclusion criteria and none of the exclusion criteria. Both the treatment and control group participants will be asked to use the VORSO System once a day while maintaining a stable dose of methotrexate throughout the 12-week study. Participants will return to the site at 1, 6 and 12 weeks for follow-up testing.

Sleep Innovations for Preschoolers With Arthritis (SIPA): Developing and Pilot Testing of a Self-Management...

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Behavioral sleep problems such as sleep onset delays and frequent night wakings are common among young children (2-5 years). Children with a chronic health condition such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) are even more prone to sleep problems, which are also associated with disease-related symptoms such as pain and fatigue. Early childhood is a critical period for establishing healthy sleep habits and self-regulation skills and is therefore an opportune time to identify and address unhealthy sleep habits. The Sleep Innovation for Preschoolers with Arthritis (SIPA) project will develop and pilot test a technology-based sleep intervention for parents of young children with JIA.

BMA vs Cortisone for Glenohumeral Osteoarthritis

Osteo Arthritis Shoulders

This randomized trial seeks to investigate the difference if any between cortisone injection versus bone marrow aspirate injection in the glenohumeral joint of patients with confirmed osteoarthritis. The investigators hope that results from a prospective randomized controlled pilot study on bone marrow aspirate (BMA) glenohumeral joint (GHJ) injections will provide valuable early information on an alternative treatment for GHJ osteoarthritis (OA). This novel study will also contribute clinical data to the growing pool of research around BMA in the treatment of osteoarthritis. This study has the potential to uncover a new and more effective therapy to add to the arsenal of an orthopaedic surgeon in the management of GHJ OA. This would provide improved care and treatment for those disabled by GHJ OA. Additionally, this knowledge would be applicable to a variety of medical practitioners who treat GHJ OA from the general orthopaedic surgeon to pain subspecialists.

PsA Secukinumab XCT Structural Progression Study

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis is related with chronic inflammation and progressive radiographic damages, and it in turn lead to disability and loss in function-ability. Recent advance in treatment pathway through anti IL-17 gives promising clinical improvement. Yet, its effect on radiographic progression remains uncertain. This study aimed to ascertain the effect of secukinumab on structural progression in PsA by evaluation through high resolution peripheral quantative computed tomography (HRpqCT).
