Randomised Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel Group Study in Patients With Active Rheumatoid...
Rheumatoid ArthritisThis is a sub-study of the OSKIRA-4 study, (D4300C0004, NCT01264770) to explore alternative and more sensitive modalities for measuring the beneficial effects of syk inhibition with fostamatinib in patients with active RA. This MRI sub-study was reported later than the main study due to recruitment delays at specialist imaging sites and so is registered and presented entirely separately to the main study results. This study will investigate the impact of treatment on joint activity and damage by assessing synovitis, osteitis, bone erosions and joint space narrowing.
Massage Therapy in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Juvenile Idiopathic ArthritisWhile there has been progress in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) management, there is no cure. Despite receiving standard of care, many children live with pain. Thus, it is not surprising that families turn to complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) therapies, including massage therapy (MT). Little is known about the efficacy of MT in JIA. In this project, a massage therapist will teach parents how to provide a massage to their child with JIA at bedtime, at home. The feasibility of establishing a home MT program for children with JIA will be evaluated. In addition, the effects of MT on JIA will be examined. This proposal is relevant to JIA families, who ask questions on MT to professionals of the JIA clinic. Beyond providing education to JIA families, this project demonstrates the team approach to JIA management. Team members will include a pediatric rheumatology nurse and a massage therapist.

A Single Centre Study to Assess the Long-term Performance of the DePuy ASR™ System in Primary Hip...
Rheumatoid ArthritisOsteoarthritis6 moreThe purpose of this study is to monitor the performance and determine the metal ion release of the DePuy ASR™ System in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring hip resurfacing surgery. Patients who enter the study will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments. A subset of patients will also have blood samples taken at regular intervals to allow the metal ion levels to be determined and undergo scans to allow the bone mineral density of the bone surrounding the implant to be monitored. DePuy decided to close this Study in 4Q 2009. The Study was terminated with effect from November 2010 to allow for the completion of the 5 year follow up assessments. Please note that subsequent to this decision DePuy voluntarily recalled the ASR products on 24 August 2010. Additional information regarding this voluntary recall and the follow-up of patients affected by the recall can be found at the following links http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Publications/Safetywarnings/MedicalDeviceAlerts/CON079157 and http://www.depuy.com/countries_list.
An Efficacy and Safety Study of JNJ-38518168 in Adult Participants With Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid ArthritisThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, tolerability and safety of JNJ-38518168 compared with placebo in adult participants with active rheumatoid arthritis (long time systemic disease of the joints, marked by inflammatory changes in the synovial membranes and bones) despite methotrexate (MTX) therapy.

A Study of Ocrelizumab in Combination With Methotrexate in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Who...
Rheumatoid ArthritisThis study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of ocrelizumab, compared with placebo, in combination with methotrexate in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who are naive to methotrexate. Patients will be randomized to receive placebo, ocrelizumab 200mg i.v. or ocrelizumab 500mg i.v. on Days 1 and 15. Repeat courses of i.v. treatment will be administered at weeks 24, 52 and 76. All patients will receive concomitant methotrexate (7.5 mg escalating to 20mg p.o. weekly). The anticipated time on study treatment is 2+ years, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.
Treatment Outcomes for Ankle Arthritis
OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to determine any functional outcome differences in patients who have undergone surgical treatment for ankle osteoarthritis using surveys, step counts, and laboratory gait analysis. This study is closed to recruitment; follow-up procedures are completed; the study remains open for data analysis. Enrollment was completed by August 2012. As of July 2016, the study is currently analyzing data. In April 2017 the study was approved to begin long term follow-up with study participants. Study personnel contact participants via telephone and/or U.S. Mail to tell them about long term follow-up, and to ask whether they are willing to continue study participation. Long term follow-up will be for up to 12 years after the participant's ankle surgery.
