Effect of Dosage of Metformin on Menstruation and Lipid Profile in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome...

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common cause of anovulatory infertility and causes menstrual disruption in 6.6-6.8% of women in reproductive age and is characterized by insulin resistance, hyperinsulinemia, hyperandrogenism and anovulation. Extended Clomiphene Citrate Regimen in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Infertility

One hundred and thirty six anovulatory women with CC-resistant PCOS were scheduled randomly into two equal groups. Group A (n=68); received CC (100 mg/day from cycle day 3 for 10 days) for up to six cycles. Group B (n=68) underwent LOD and followed up for 6 months. The primary outcome was the ovulation rate in each group; secondary outcomes were midcycle endometrial thickness and serum estradiol, midluteal serum progesterone, and the rates of clinical pregnancy and abortion.

Metformin in Pregnancy in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

The study provide a detailed longitudinal evaluation of the gluco-insulinemic assessment of pregnant PCOS women under metformin treatment. 47 non diabetic Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) women became pregnant during metformin treatment and continued taking the drug during gestation. An oral glucose tolerance test and euglycaemic hyperinsulinaemic clamp were performed at each trimester of gestation.

PDE-4 Inhibitor Roflumilast and GLP-1 Agonist Liraglutide in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

PCOSObesity

The purpose of this study was to determine whether monotherapy treatment with phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE-4) inhibitor roflumilast is more effective than treatment with glucagon-like protein 1 (GLP-1) liraglutide or treatment with metformin as monotherapy in the treatment of obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) regarding weight reduction who have not been treated before. The investigators anticipated greater changes in body weight in patients on roflumilast treatment than in liraglutide or metformin.

Mood and Nutrition Interventions in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

The purpose of this study is to help determine the best treatment plan for women with PCOS who are overweight or obese and experiencing significant symptoms of depression and anxiety. Specifically, the investigators are attempting to see if there is a difference between cognitive behavioral therapy in combination with nutritional counseling in improving mood symptoms, response to stress, and risk factors for heart disease compared to nutrition counseling alone. The investigators hypothesize that combined treatment with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and nutritional counseling will be more beneficial.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Liraglutide

PCOSObesity

The purpose of this study was to determine whether liraglutide is more effective than metformin in the treatment of obese women with newly diagnosed polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We anticipated greater changes in body weight in patients treated with liraglutide than in those treated with metformin.

Ovulation Induction in Women With Clomiphene Citrate Resistant PCOS

Polycystic Ovary SyndromeInfertility

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects 5-10% of women in childbearing age. Hyperinsulinemia contributes to chronic anovulation commonly encountered in women with PCOS. The first choice therapy is clomiphene citrate (CC). In CC resistant cases, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) recommends the use of insulin sensitizer metformin. Other insulin sensitizing agents include rosiglitazone and pioglitazone. Pioglitazone is said to improve fertility and ovulation in patients with PCOS.CC may be associated with poor endometrial thickening due to its antiestrogenic effect. Letrozole may improve this condition. In this study we will compare the effect of combined letrozole-metformin-pioglitazone with that of combined CC-metformin-pioglitazone in ovulation induction in CC-resistant PCOS women.
