Simvastatin Therapy in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to determine whether statins (simvastatin) improve clinical (excessive hair, skin problems), endocrine (androgens) and metabolic (lipids, markers of systemic inflammation) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Impact of Metformin in Teens With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) on Oral Contraceptive Therapy...
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeOral contraceptives are known to improve menstrual cycles and symptoms in PCOS, however may increase cholesterol. Metformin, a drug to improve insulin resistance, may benefit metabolic state. This study is to determine whether metformin added to oral contraceptive therapy in adolescent women with PCOS improves metabolic state. The study will also test a lifestyle improvement program to reduce weight.
Phase II Study of the Effect of Leuprolide Acetate and Spironolactone on Insulin Resistance in Hyperandrogenic...
Acanthosis NigricansPolycystic Ovary SyndromeOBJECTIVES: I. Evaluate insulin resistance in thin and obese hyperandrogenic women with polycystic ovarian disease or hyperandrogenism insulin resistance acanthosis nigricans syndrome and in thin and obese controls, using an estimation of tissue sensitivity to insulin. II. Evaluate the effect of androgen suppression with leuprolide acetate and spironolactone on insulin secretion and resistance.
Effect of Exercise on Cardiometabolic Profile in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic Ovary SyndromePolycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder that has been shown to affect women's fertility. It can also share many symptoms with pre-diabetes, and women with PCOS often have an increased risk for type 2 diabetes, heart attack and stroke. This study aims to assess the feasibility and acceptability of exercise intervention and increased lifestyle physical activity to improve cardiovascular disease risk factors in women with PCOS.
Oral Amino Acid Nutrition to Improve Glucose Excursions in PCOS
Polycystic Ovarian SyndromeObesity1 moreThe Investigators will measure hepatic glucose and fat metabolism in obese girls with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and hepatic steatosis (HS) after taking 4 weeks of an essential amino acid (EAA) supplement or placebo and test whether the EAA supplement can improve hepatic glucose metabolism in these girls.
Clinical and Basic Research on the Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic Ovary SyndromePolycystic ovary syndrome is the most common endocrine and metabolic disorder in gynecology. Traditional Chinese medicine has a good clinical effect in the treatment of PCOS. We intend to conduct this trial in strict accordance with the requirements of evidence-based medicine, through a multi-center, randomized, controlled study, using a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study design method to clarify that Zishen Qingre Lishi Huayu Recipe restores spontaneous ovulation in PCOS patients. The overall efficacy of improving the characteristics of Kaohsiung and glucose and lipid metabolism is optimal, and high-level evidence-based evidence is obtained to form a diagnosis and treatment plan for promotion.
Follicular Synchronization in PCOS Patients Undergoing ICSI
Polycystic Ovarian SyndromeThe use of GnRH antagonist protocol nowadays is the slandered protocol of controlled ovarian stimulation in patients with poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) because it decreases the incidence of OHSS(1, 2). However, this protocol may lead to asynchronous growth of follicles with an early dominant follicle specially in PCOS patients(3). In most of cases this phenomenon will affect the IVF outcomes(2, 4) Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) nowadays is recommended to be used for ovulation induction in patients with PCOS (5, 6).It has fewer side effects, and a shorter half-life than clomiphene citrate(CC), and no effect ON the endometrial receptivity. It is used in treating patients with chronic anovulation, unexplained infertility and poor ovarian reserve(7). It acts through decreasing estrogen levels and allows follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) release from the hypothalamus (8, 9). It could be used alone or with combination with human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG) specially in patients with CC resistant(10-13). It also improves the ovarian response to FSH when they are used in combination and it decreases the risk of OHSS (14). This study aims to evaluate the effect of uses of letrozole in combination with HMG during ovarian stimulation in patients having PCOS undergoing IVF/ICSI on the follicular growth pattern, synchronized growth of follicles, maturity of oocyte and the quality of embryos.
Effect of Nitric Oxide Donors on Uterine and Subendometrial Blood Flow in Patients With Unexplained...
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeInfertility1 moreThe purpose of the study to evaluate effect of nitroglycerin trans-dermal patches on uterine and sub-endometrial blood flow in women with unexplained infertility.
Metformin Treatment in Adolescent Patients With PCOS: A Long-term, Winning Metabolic Choice.
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeThis study aimed to understand whether metformin therapy can improve insulin resistance in adolescent PCOS patients, both during treatment and after discontinuation, and to evaluate its action on the hormonal and metabolic pathways.
Quantum Menstrual Health Monitoring Study
Menstrual Cycle AbnormalPolycystic Ovary Syndrome1 moreThe Quantum Menstrual Health Monitoring Study will measure four key reproductive hormones in the urine to characterize patterns that predict and confirm ovulation, referenced to serum hormones and the gold-standard of the ultrasound day of ovulation in participants with regular cycles. These normal cycles will provide a reference for comparison to irregular cycles in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and athletes. Clinical signs in the menstrual cycle (e.g. menstrual bleeding, temperature) as well as vital sign and sleep patterns will also be referenced to hormonal changes.
