Active clinical trials for "Polycystic Ovary Syndrome"

The study included 100 female diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. They were classified into 2 groups: Study group included 50 women will receive 300.000 I.U single dose of Vitamin D intramuscular injection (Memphis company) , and in the next menstrual cycle induction done by clomiphen citrate 100mg daily for 5 days starting from third day of menstruation and HMG single dose on 8th day . Control group included 50 women will receive only clomiphen citrate 100mg daily for 5 days starting from third day of menstruation and HMG single dose on 8th day. Serum 25 hydroxy Vitamin D3, Serum Leptin and FSH will be done to all women before and after intervention.

The purpose of this study is to compare two fertility protocols in obese women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome who are candidates for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). These protocols carry less risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome which these women may experience.

This is a randomized control trial of acupuncture for women with polycystic ovary syndrome. The study is triple-blinded.

Control ovarian stimulation responses, pregnancy and miscarriage rates are indifferent when either recombinant or highly purified follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is used.

Stein and Leventhal were the first to recognize an association between the presence of polycystic ovaries and signs of hirsutism and amenorrhea (eg,oligomenorrhea, obesity), After women diagnosed with Stein-Leventhal syndrome underwent successful wedge resection of the ovaries, their menstrual cycles became regular, and they were able to conceive. As a consequence, a primary ovarian defect was thought to be the main culprit, and the disorder came to be known as polycystic ovarian disease.

Traditional medical treatments are often based on research done exclusively in males, and recent research efforts in the physiology community have highlighted critical sex differences in disease presentation and progression. For example, the relative risk of fatal heart disease is 50% greater in obese, diabetic women as compared to their male counterparts, and women appear to respond differently to lifestyle interventions such as exercise compared with men. Chronic passive heat exposure (hot tub use) provides alternative or supplemental therapeutic potential for improving cardiovascular and metabolic health in obese women. In addition, passive heat exposure may offer specific cellular protection from stresses like a lack of blood flow (ischemia), which is the primary cause of fatal coronary heart disease. This study is investigating the possible cardiovascular and metabolic health benefits of chronic passive heat exposure, and whether regular hot tub use (3-4 days per week for 8-10 weeks) may reduce obese womens' cardiometabolic risk. The investigators are examining cardiovascular health through blood pressure, blood vessel stiffness, sympathetic ('fight or flight') activity, and responsiveness to stresses like increased or decreased blood flow. The investigators are also examining metabolic health through an oral glucose tolerance test and a subcutaneous fat biopsy. The goal of this research is to develop a therapy targeted toward the specific health needs and complications of obese women, in an effort to improve cardiovascular and metabolic health and provide therapeutic alternatives in this high-risk population.

The participants will receive metformin 500mg 3times per day for 3months and one month is left for spontaneous pregnancy to occur or not (primary outcome ) and the investigators will check endometrial thickness and subendometerial vascularity as markers of endometrial receptivity before and after the treatment.

In vitro maturation of oocytes after minimal gonadotropin stimulation in patients with polycystic ovaries, to prevent cases of ovarian hyperstimulation.

Gestational diabetes mellitus is one of the most frequent complications of pregnancy, that affect between 1 to 14% of population around the world. There is a few studies to prevent gestational diabetes mellitus in high risk women as Mexican population. Metformin has been used during pregnancy in women with gestational diabetes and women with polycystic ovary syndrome, with acceptable security for mother and fetus. Metformin decrease the insulin resistance and weight gain, we believe that metformin may be decrease the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus in high risk women.
