Oxycodone vs. Fentanyl in Early Postoperative Pain After Total Hip Replacement

PainPostoperative

Oxycodone is one of the most widely used opioids for pain treatment. Many studies demonstrated good efficacy of oxycodone on postoperative pain. In this study, we assess the efficacy and side effects of bolus intravenous of oxycodone injection compared to those of fentanyl in patients after total hip replacement surgery.

Use of IV Acetaminophen in the Treatment of Post Operative Pain in Patients Undergoing Craniotomy...

Postoperative Pain

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of intravenous acetaminophen (Tylenol) for post operative pain control in patients undergoing craniotomies (brain surgery) and spine surgery. Studies have shown that intravenous acetaminophen is useful for post operative pain control in some operations but there have not been studies to evaluate the use of acetaminophen in craniotomies or spine surgery.

How Much is Too Much: Assessing Varying Pressure Pump Pressures in Post Operative Pain Control in...

Shoulder Arthroscopy

Postoperative surgical pain has been extensively study with regard to anaesthesia pain modalities, however little is published with regards to various arthroscopic shoulder surgical techniques. An intriguing characteristic of shoulder arthroscopy is the various arthroscopic pump pressures used by different surgeons. One could hypothesize that excessive water retention from the arthroscopic pump could causes excessive tissue pressure and swelling resulting in post operative pain. Unfortunately we could not find any literature in the English language regarding varying pressure pump settings on post operative pain control. For that reason we would like to assess how variable pump pressure effect tissue pressure over pre set time points, and how this may relate to post operative pain control.

Effects of Calot's Triangle Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic...

Post-operative PainGallstone Disease

Chronic pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a common complication with an incidence ranging between 3-56%. In many cases, however, the cause chronic pain after LC remains unknown and visceral hyperalgesia and central sensitization have been suggested to be part of the pathophysiology. So the purpose of this study is to determine whether Calot's Triangle Block (CTB) combined with patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) is superior to PCIA in reducing the incidence of chronic pain after LC.
