Translingual Neurostimulation for the Virtual Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: A Feasibility...
Post-traumatic Stress DisorderA growing body of evidence suggests that translingual neurostimulation (TLNS) plays a role in modulating neuroplastic changes in the brain, which has far-reaching implications for its ability to facilitate other therapeutic interventions such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The present study aims to assess the feasibility of combining TLNS with CPT in individuals with PTSD.
The Role of Computerized Training in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Traumatic Stress DisorderThe purpose of this study is to determine whether a computerized training, "Cognitive Bias Modification" targetting appraisals (CBM-App), can reduce dysfunctional appraisals of trauma in patients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), compared to a control condition. Other outcomes measured include symptoms of PTSD and trauma-relevant dysfunctional cognitions. Participants are recruited from inpatients with PTSD admitted to the Clinic for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, LWL University Clinic of Ruhr University of Bochum.
Cornerstone Program for Transition-Age Youth Study Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial
DepressionStress Disorders2 moreThe purpose of this study is exploring a theoretically guided intervention, Cornerstone, which provides system 'boundary-spanning' services, including therapeutic services and mentorship, to transition-age youth with mental disorders. Cornerstone is designed to improve mental health service engagement and outcomes. The study uses a mixed methods approach to refine Cornerstone, and a hybrid design examining feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary impact with a randomized trial, alongside implementation.
Narrative Exposure Therapy in Women With Borderline Personality Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress...
Borderline Personality DisorderStress Disorders1 moreNarrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is an evidence-based trauma-focussed treatment, suitable for survivors of prolonged and repeated exposure to traumatic stress and childhood adversity. Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) often suffer from a comorbid Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) caused by multiple traumatic events. Therapeutic aims are the reduction of PTSD-Symptoms in these patients via activation of associative neural networks related to traumatic experiences and habituation of fear and the placement of traumatic experiences in a reconstructed, detailed and consistent autobiography. This practice enables the processing of and coping with painful memories and the construction of clear contingencies of dangerous and safe conditions, generally leading to significant emotional recovery. The investigators assume that using NET the reduction of PTSD symptom severity is greater compared to treatment by Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
