Different Types of Manual Therapy Techniques in Patients With Chronic Neck Pain

Neck Pain

The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparative effectiveness of high velocity and low amplitude (HVLA)vs Mobilization (Mob) vs Mobilization with movement technique (MWMT) in sample of patients with chronic neck pain (CNP). Secondly to evaluate the immediate effects in range of motion and pain thresholds, and the interaction between psychological factors and the outcomes of these three types of manual therapy. The hypothesis is that all manual therapies techniques will produce similar effects.

Effect of Combined Neck Strength Exerciser Plus Physiotherapy to Treatment Chronic Neck Pain

Cervicalgia

Chronic neck pain is common in general population. High health care source expenditure Multiple therapeutic approaches available with limited evidence Previous studies showed active strengthening exercise improved pain (VAS) and functional performance (NDI) Muscle strengthening exercise with biofeedback technique showed more long-lasting effect in patients with chronic neck pain The investigators hypothesize that daily use of the neck strength exerciser (NSE), combined biofeedback technique with muscle strengthening exercise posture adjustment, in addition to traditional physiotherapy, could have more long-lasting and prominent effect on pain and functional improvement in patients with chronic neck pain.

Evaluation of Efficacy and Safety of Epidural Steroid Injection Using Dexamethasone or Betamethasone...

Back PainNeck Pain

Particle steroid drug such as triamcinolone has been used widely for epidural steroid injection (ESI) treatment in Korea. However, Korea FDA recently prohibit ESI using triamcinolone, following the regulation of US FDA. Therefore, dexamethasone and betamethasone become only candidate drugs for ESI in Korea and the investigators are curious about the effectiveness and safety of both drugs due to limitation of information about comparison of two drugs in previous literature. So, this study aims to compare the effectiveness and safety of both drugs and our hypothesis is that there is no difference of the effectiveness between dexamethasone and betamethasone at 2 weeks after ESI.

Responses of People With Neck Pain Being Treated With Varying Doses of Manual Therapy: A Pilot Study...

Whiplash Injuries

The purpose of this pilot project is to determine the feasibility of a study design to investigate how many sessions of manual therapy and exercise produce the best results for people with whiplash injuries. Also, this study will help us determine the best way to measure the effect of treatment. Finally, the investigators will study how closely the physiotherapists follow the treatment instruction provided in the study protocol and training. In order to achieve these objectives, 12 people will receive manual therapy and exercise at one of twelve different doses. the investigators will have each of these people fill out questionnaires, measure sensation changes, and measure changes in the way people move their necks while walking. This study will help us determine if the study protocol can be carried out as planned. This includes: the training of all people involved in carrying out the assessments and treatments, the willingness and ability of participants to take part in all of the treatment and measures involved. This will provide us with important information to help us plan a larger study with 226 people with whiplash injuries.

C7-T1 Epidural Steroid Injections Versus Targeted Injection for Treatment of Cervical Radicular...

Radicular; NeuropathicCervical1 more

Cervical radicular pain is a common, disabling problem, occurs in 83:100,000 individuals per year. Symptoms are most often caused by intervertebral disc herniation (21.9%) or central or foraminal stenosis from spondylosis (68.4%). Patients complain of pain in the head, neck, scapula or arm. The diagnosis of radicular pain is made clinically by history and physical examination, supported by imaging studies and electrodiagnostic tests. No study has compared the differences in pain, medication utilization, functional outcomes, or patient satisfaction between interlaminar and targeted epidural injections in the cervical spine. In theory, the technique of targeted epidural steroid delivery with a catheter has a lower risk of accidental vascular trespass or disc penetration during the procedure, and far less risk of dural penetration or spinal cord injury at rostral levels of the cervical spinal cord as compared with the interlaminar technique. The investigators hypothesize that this technique results in superior pain control, decreased medication use, improved function and fewer repeat injections. This data could improve patient safety and affect the evolving treatment guidelines for cervical epidural injections.

Effects of Hatha Yoga on Chronic Neck Pain

Neck Pain

Hatha Yoga is a traditional system of exercises, used in India for the relief of painful condition since centuries and gaining more and more interest in Europe and the US. While studies have demonstrated benefits of Hatha Yoga for patients with chronic low back pain, no studies regarding chronic neck pain are available until now. The purpose of this study is to determine if Hatha Yoga can ameliorate chronic neck pain and related restrictions.

Effectiveness of Fustra-Exercise Program in Neck and Low Back Pain

Neck PainLow Back Pain1 more

The purpose of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of Fustra® exercise program in relieving recurrent pain in the neck or/and back, and thus improve quality of life in female and male office workers. The hypothesis is that neuromuscular exercise will improve control of posture and movement, neck shoulder and trunk flexibility, trunk muscular endurance and leg strength, and thus decrease intensity of pain by 30% compared to non-exercise group. In addition, financial feasibility of the exercise program and effects of training on quality of life and perceived work ability are studied.
