Curio Digital Therapy for the Treatment of Post-partum Depression

PostPartum Depression

Primary Objective: Evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the MamaLift Plus app compared to control (digital sham plus treatment as usual) for the management of PPD in the observed population for a period of 9 calendar weeks. It is hypothesized that women who use the MamaLift Plus APP will experience less severe symptoms of depression in post-partum period than comparable women who do not and receive their usual care from health providers.

A Pilot Randomized Trial of Video-based Family Therapy for Depressed Home Visited Mothers

Perinatal DepressionPostpartum Depression1 more

Depressed mothers (pregnant and post-delivery) make up a significant portion of Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) clients. Home visited mothers often experience family conflict that precipitates or worsens their depressive symptoms. This study uses an effectiveness-implementation hybrid type 1 design with a pilot randomized trial to test the feasibility, acceptability, tolerability, safety, and preliminary effectiveness of an innovative family therapy intervention that uses technology to bypass barriers to increase access to treatment for this vulnerable population.

Birth Experience During COVID-19 Confinement

Postpartum Depression

Different studies have demonstrated that the absence of companionship during labor and childbirth may be responsible for a negative birth experience, an increased risk of postnatal depression and/or post traumatic stress disorders. These situation may also have a negative impact on mother-child interaction, on marital and family relationship and on the rate of maternal suicide in postpartum. However, these previous results cannot be extrapolated in the current context where the absence of the companionship is imposed by the confinement framework. The objective of the CONFINE study is to assess, for the first time, the birth experience of women in the context of limited social support in the immediate post-partum period due to confinement, as well as the associated over-risk of mental disorders, compared to a post-partum without social restriction.

Prenatal Affective Cognitive Training to Reduce the Risk of Postpartum Depression (PACT)

Postpartum DepressionEmotional Regulation4 more

Many pregnant women face the risk of experiencing depression after giving birth, especially if they've previously dealt with depression. The goal of this study, is to test if our newly developed Prenatal Affective Cognitive Training (PACT) intervention, can decrease the likelihood of post partum depression. In the study, 226 pregnant women, some of whom are considered high risk due to past mental illness or psycho-social risk factors, will participate. The high-risk women will be divided into two groups. One group will undergo the PACT training, which involves computer and virtual reality exercises spanning five weeks, designed to improve mood and emotional regulation. The other group will receive usual care. The main aim is to observe whether the women who undergo PACT intervention are less prone to depression after childbirth compared to those who do not. This study has potential to offer a simple, non-invasive method to bolster mental health in expectant mothers, which could also positively impact their infants.

Maternal Stress on Human Milk and Infant Outcomes

Postpartum DepressionPreterm Labor

The overarching purpose of this study is to determine if a modified 8-week mindfulness-based intervention (with a focus on self-compassion; MBSC) will reduce stress and increase self-compassion in mothers of preterm infants and beneficially modify the human milk produced, and subsequently improve infant health.

After the women are evaluated in terms of eligibility criteria for the research, the women who are eligible will be informed about the research and written informed consent will be obtained from the women who accept. The random distribution of women to the study groups will be carried out using the Block Randomization method. The following applications will be made to the groups. The researcher will contact the experimental group by phone. He will introduce herself and 6 weeks (during postpartum). It will provide the mother with the consultancy service she needs about herself and the newborn 24 hours a day. After 6 weeks, the training will end and the third researcher will make post-tests of the depression scale to both groups without knowing the experimental and control groups.

Survey on Patients After Childbearth Following Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric Surgery Status in ChildbirthPuerperal Depression

Women with a history of bariatric surgery may face various difficulties during pregnancy and puerperal time. Therefore it is assumed the prevalence of mental health disorders might be higher than in average women during and after pregnancy. This could possibly lead to an unsatisfying weight progress and therapeutic non-adherence. These factors shall be observed in the study in order to characterize this special cohort of participants.

Virtual Group Psychoeducational Discussions With Spanish-Speaking Mothers of Infants in Pediatric...

Postpartum DepressionPostpartum Anxiety

The goal of the proposed research is to test the feasibility and acceptability of a virtual group session which is intended to be offered universally to Spanish-speaking parents of newborns/infants attending pediatric primary care. The virtual session is intended to (1) enhance patient/family education about postpartum depression (PPD) and (2) Provide an orientation to families regarding relevant clinic and community psychosocial support resources available. Session contents include (1) Introduction to clinic staff, contacts, and resources (2) A video-recorded testimonial of a patient with a history of perinatal depression followed by a group discussion about/reflection on the video; (3) Review of prevalence and signs of PPD; (4) Discussion of clinic PPD screening procedures and rationale for screening; (5) Discussion of self-care and mood monitoring; (6) Discussion of relevant local resources, including information about availability of primary care resources for parents (including uninsured parents) and information about resources addressing social needs. The overall aim of the project is to Develop and pilot a virtual group augmentation of standard individual well-child care to improve (1) clinic screening procedures, discussion about and initial management of maternal depressive symptoms with immigrant Latinas and (2) patient symptom recognition, symptom disclosure, and subsequent treatment engagement
