A Study of Aprepitant (MK-0869) in Pediatric Participants Undergoing Surgery (MK-0869-148)
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingThis two part study will determine the appropriate dosing regimen of aprepitant for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in pediatric participants 6 months to 17 years of age, by assessing pharmacokinetic parameters and monitoring safety and tolerability of administered doses. Part I will be an open label investigation of a single dose of aprepitant measuring pharmacokinetics at specified time points up to 48 hours after aprepitant dosing. Part II will be a double blind trial of participants randomized to receive either aprepitant or ondansetron.
Dexamethasone for Paediatric Adeno-tonsillectomy - A Dose-finding Study
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingPostoperative PainAdeno-tonsillectomy is a commonly performed surgical procedure in children. Main morbidities are postoperative pain, nausea and vomiting, and haemorrhage. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)widely used for paincontrol increase the risk of postoperative bleeding and reoperation. Dexamethasone is an powerful antiemetic and has shown analgesic efficacy. Antiemetic and analgesic dose-response has never been established.
Pilot Study to Assess Palonosetron Versus Ondansetron as Rescue Medication in Subjects That Develop...
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingThe purpose of this study is to investigate palonosetron versus ondansetron as rescue medication in subjects that develop postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in the Postanaesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
A Study To Evaluate An NK-1 Antiemetic For The Prevention Of Post Operative Nausea And Vomiting...
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingNausea and Vomiting1 moreThis study is looking at a range of doses of this NK-1 receptor antagonist drug, for both safety and effectiveness in prevention PONV
Dextrose Effect on Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV)
Postoperative Nausea and VomitingThe aim of this study to assess which time and dose of dextrose solution more effective in decreasing postoperative nausea and vomiting.
TIVA Versus Desfluran Anaesthesia in Patients Undergoing Bariatric Surgery
Total Intravenous AnesthesiaDesflurane5 moreMany factors during laparascopic surgery leads to PONV (postoperative nausea and vomiting), such as C02 insufflations causing peritoneal stretch and irritation and type of anaesthesia given during surgery. The two anesthetic techniques used in bariatric surgery are gas anesthesia (Remifentanil TCI and Desfluran) and Total Intra Venous Anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol. There are studies which have shown a reduction in postoperative nausea and vomiting following TIVA, and there are publications showing no statistically significant difference. The aim of this study was to investigate the best anaesthetic approach for obese subjects, evaluating awakening time, postoperative nausea and pain. Our hypothesis was based on the fact that Propofol is a lipid-soluble anesthetic and therefore might have a prolonged effect in obese patients, leading to a longer awakening time along with postoperative nausea and vomiting. This hypothesis is also described earlier by obese patients have more depots (bulk fat) and also more fat surface making anaesthetics storage more easier, and also that the anesthetic will return into the circulation when the administration is stopped [18].
Dexamethasone Administration To Improve Patient Recovery In Ambulatory Vaginal Prolapse Surgery:...
Quality of RecoverySame Day Surgery3 moreTo the investigators knowledge there are no studies in the literature evaluating the effect of Dexamethasone administration on patients undergoing outpatient vaginal prolapse surgeries.
Reversal of Remimazolam by a Single Dose of Flumazenil
Flumazenil Adverse ReactionAmbulatory Surgery2 moreRemimazolam, a brand-new sedative which has benzodiazepine property. It is an ultra-short acting sedative and regarded as a proper drug for procedural sedation.
ERECTOR SPINE PLANE BLOCK VERSUS LOCAL INFILTRATION ANAESTHESIA FOR TRANSFORAMINAL PERCUTANEOUS...
Acute PainChronic Pain13 moreThe main aim of our study was to test the hypothesis that Erector spine plane block (ESP) with sedation will provide the similar employment of fentanyl and propofol during surgery as an infiltrative local anaesthesia with sedation. The primary endpoint was the quantity of fentanyl and propofol during surgery.
The Effect of Choosing of Preoperative Intravenous Fluid Type on the Postoperative Nausea, Vomiting,...
Post Operative PainNausea and Vomiting2 moreIn this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between postoperative nausea and vomiting, anxiety levels and pain scores in the postoperative period according to dosing and choosing of intravenous fluid type that the patients received in the preoperative period.
