Study of Biological Determinants of Bleeding Postpartum

Postpartum Hemorrhage

At the entry of the delivery room, a standard blood analysis will be performed (Blood count, PT, aPTT, Fibrinogen, and D-Dimer) for each women (if they are agree), according to the center's practices. Prediction of Uterine Atony After Vaginal Delivery by Elastography

Postpartum Hemorrhage

Prospective study evaluating the feasibility of shear-wave elastography of the uterus during the third stage of labour and following placental delivery. The investigators hypothesize that the stiffness of the myometrium can be measured by using shear-wave technology. This study involves 30 patients with a healthy pregnancy and spontaneous vaginal delivery. One co-investigator will carry out measurements at the uterine fundus, at three different time points: after fetal delivery, after placental delivery and 30 minutes after placental delivery.

Time of Postpartum Hemoglobin Assessment and Blood Loss During Delivery

HemorrhagePostpartum

This is a prospective cohort study of patients delivering at Columbia University Medical Center/ Allen Hospital. For the primary research question, the investigators will compare the change in maternal hemoglobin from postpartum day 1 to day 2 and also determine correlation with estimation of blood loss (EBL) and quantitative blood loss (QBL).

Eye Tracking and Simulated Postpartum Hemorrhage

Simulation of Physical Illness

Eye tracking is the process of measuring an individual's eye movements in order to reflect their attentional behavior by using a device called an eye- tracker. This study uses eye-tracking methodology to observe the gaze patterns of participants to a high fidelity simulation scenario of postpartum hemorrhage acting in the role of leader to evaluate the relationship between eye-tracking patterns and leadership and team behavioral and technical skills.
