Epoetin Alfa in Treating Anemia in Patients With Solid Tumors
AnemiaLeukemia6 moreRATIONALE: Epoetin alfa may stimulate red blood cell production and treat anemia in patients with solid tumors. It is not yet known whether epoetin alfa given once a week is more effective than epoetin alfa given once every 3 weeks in treating anemia. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to study the effectiveness of epoetin alfa in treating anemia in patients who have solid tumors.
Dalteparin to Prevent Complications in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy Through a Catheter...
Cervical CancerChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders8 moreRATIONALE: The use of dalteparin may be able to prevent complications caused by the use of a catheter to supply chemotherapy to cancer patients. It is not yet known if dalteparin is effective in reducing these complications. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of dalteparin in preventing catheter-related complications in cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy through a catheter.
Opioid Titration Order Sheet or Standard Care in Treating Patients With Cancer Pain
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders10 moreRATIONALE: An Opioid Titration Order Sheet that allows healthcare providers to adjust the dose and schedule of pain medication may help improve pain treatment for patients with cancer. It is not yet known whether the use of an Opioid Titration Order Sheet is more effective than standard care in treating pain caused by cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying an Opioid Titration Order Sheet to see how well it works compared with standard care in treating patients with cancer pain.
Epoetin Alfa in Treating Patients With Anemia Who Are Undergoing Chemotherapy for Cancer
AnemiaLeukemia6 moreRATIONALE: Epoetin alfa may cause the body to make more red blood cells. It is used to treat anemia caused by cancer and chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well epoetin alfa works in treating patients with anemia who are undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.
Epoetin Alfa in Treating Anemia in Patients Who Are Receiving Chemotherapy
AnemiaBreast Cancer10 moreRATIONALE: Epoetin alfa may stimulate red blood cell production and treat anemia in patients with cancer who are receiving chemotherapy. It is not yet known whether epoetin alfa is more effective than a placebo in treating anemia in patients receiving chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Randomized double blinded phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of epoetin alfa with a placebo in treating anemia in cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy.
Cidofovir in Treating Patients With Stage IB, Stage II, Stage III, or Stage IVA Cervical Cancer...
Cervical CancerPrecancerous ConditionRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs such as cidofovir may make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Giving cidofovir together with radiation therapy and chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of cidofovir in treating patients with stage IB, stage II, stage III, or stage IVA cervical cancer who are receiving chemotherapy together with radiation therapy.
Celecoxib in Preventing Skin Cancer in Patients With Actinic Keratoses
Precancerous ConditionRATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. The use of celecoxib may be an effective way to prevent actinic keratoses. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II/III trial to determine the effectiveness of celecoxib in preventing skin cancer in patients who have actinic keratoses.
Beta Alethine in Treating Patients With Myeloma
Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell NeoplasmPrecancerous ConditionRATIONALE: Biological therapies such as beta alethine use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of beta alethine in treating patients who have myeloma.
A Trial of the ForeCYTE Breast Aspirator for Cytological Testing of Nipple Aspirate Fluid in Women...
Breast CancerPreneoplastic Conditions1 moreThe purpose of this study is to measure the performance of the ForeCYTE Breast Aspirator for the collection and processing of Nipple Aspirate Fluid (NAF) specimens for cytology. Including collecting, processing and shipping samples, training staff, processing samples, sample interpretation and accurate and timely reporting in a manner resembling routine clinical use. The study will include a subset of patients who are known carriers of a BRCA germline mutation. NAF from this subset will be submitted for molecular testing in addition to cytology.
Studying Fentanyl in Patients With Cancer
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders10 moreRATIONALE: Studying blood samples from cancer patients undergoing pain treatment in the laboratory may help doctors learn more about how pain drugs work in the body. It may also help doctors predict how patients will respond to treatment. PURPOSE: This research study is looking at fentanyl in patients with cancer.
