The Environmental Factors and Embryonic Development Project was set up to investigate environmental exposures and behavioral factors responsible for embryonic dysplasia and gestational complications in pregnant women.

After Institutional Review Board approval, we performed a retrospective cohort study among all women presenting for pregnancy-induced hypertension under Cesarean section in Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from January 2013 to January 2020.Perioperative data were collected, including preoperative general condition, laboratory examination, auxiliary examination (blood routine, blood coagulation, liver and kidney function, electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound, etc.), perioperative indicators, postoperative laboratory examination (blood routine, blood coagulation, liver and kidney function, etc.), postoperative follow-up and satisfaction survey of patients.

• Adjunctive use of easily-obtainable maternal sonographic vascular measurements assessing volume status, cardiac output, and systemic vascular resistance by means of inferior vena cava collapsibility/caval index (ICV CI), end-point septal separation (EPSS) for determining left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), cardiac output determination (stroke volume x heart rate), stroke volume variation, & radial artery resistance index) augments standard vital sign assessment (pulse pressure and systolic / diastolic predominance) in clinical decision-making potentially leading to more appropriate pharmacologic and clinical therapies with faster resolution of severe hypertension among pregnant women and women in the postpartum period.

The ratio of soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) to placental growth factor (PlGF) is elevated in pregnant women before the clinical onset of preeclampsia and can be used to predict the preeclampsia. However, its predictive value in pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes is unclear. This study purposes are to validate a ratio of serum sFlt-1 to PlGF that would be predictive of the absence or presence of preeclampsia in the short term in women with singleton pregnancies complicated by diabetes in whom preeclampsia was suspected, and to evaluate the relationship among sFlt-1 to PlGF and placental histopathological alterations.
