Facilitated Tucking Position and Reiki Efficacy in Orogastric Tube Insertion
PrematureFeeding Behavior3 moreThe aim of this study is to determine the effects of faciliated tucking and reiki given manually during orogastric tube insertion in preterm infants treated in the NICU on stress, pain and physiological parameter (heartbeat, blood pressure, SpO2 and respiratory rate) levels.

Peripheral Intravenous Central Catheter Intervention in Preterm Infants
PretermPain3 moreThis study will be conducted to evaluate the effect of grasping reflex stimulation applied during peripheral intravenous central catheter (PIC) intervention on pain and stress in preterm infants receiving treatment and care in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Less Invasive Beractant Administration in Preterm Infants
InfantPrematureThe aim of this study is to assess the efficacy and feasibility of a new less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) technique with a specific designed cannula for surfactant administration using Beractant replacement in preterm infants <32 weeks of gestation and compare short and long term outcomes with the intubation, administration of surfactant and extubation method (INSURE). This was a single-center, prospective, open-label, non-randomized, controlled study with an experimental cohort of 30 patients treated with LISA and a retrospective control group comprising the 30 most recently treated patients with INSURE. Beractant (4 ml/Kg) was administered as exogenous surfactant in both groups if patients on nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) during the first three days of life were needed of more than 30% of fraction of inspired oxygen inspired oxygen fraction (FiO2).

Transdermal Nitroglycerin and Nifedipine in Preterm Labor
Managing Preterm LaborOne of the important complications of pregnancy is preterm labor (PTL) and delivery. There are different tocolytic agents to enhance the time of delivery. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of transdermal nitroglycerin (glyceryl trinitrate, GTN) and oral nifedipine for managing preterm labor. This was a randomized clinical trial in women admitted with diagnosis of PTL. Group one have received transdermal GTN whereas group two have received oral nifedipine, vital signs, FHR, contractions, dilation and effacement as well as gestation age at the time of delivery have been monitored and evaluated in both groups of patient. Our main goal has been delay of delivery to have the most beneficial effect of primary corticosteroid administration for fetus.

Maternal Counseling for Preterm Deliveries, Assessing an Effective Method of Counseling
Pregnancy PretermCounselingProviding verbal counseling supplemented with both written and pictorial information then verbal counseling alone is a more effective method of counseling parents with threatened preterm delivery

Cardio-respiratory Events and Inflammatory Response After Primary Immunization in Preterm Infants...
Complication Due to ImmunizationBackground: Inflammation may depress respiration in neonates. The aim of this study was to establish a link between post-immunization inflammation and cardio-respiratory events (CRE). Methods: Randomized double-blind controlled study of infants born <32 weeks gestation receiving the 2 months vaccine. Infants were randomized into an ibuprofen treatment group and a placebo control group. C-reactive protein (CRP) and prostaglandins E2 (PgE2) levels were assessed before and after immunization. CRE were recorded for 72 hours. Heart rate variability (HRV) was assessed by polysomnography.

Randomized Controlled Trial of Social Network Targeting in Honduras
Preterm DeliveryHypothermia3 moreSocial network targeting strategies can be used to improve the delivery and uptake of health interventions. We will enroll approximately 30,000 individuals into a randomized controlled trial of different targeting algorithms in order to explore how social network dynamics affect the uptake, diffusion, and group-level normative reinforcement of key neonatal and infant health behaviors and attitudes in 176 rural villages in the Copan region of Honduras. Our goal is to develop methods by which global health practitioners can exploit face-to-face social network interactions in order to maximize uptake of neonatal and infant health interventions. The villages will be randomly assigned to 16 cells of 11 villages each in a 2 x 8 factorial design of different targeting algorithms.

VEGF Concentrations After Intravitreal Bevacizumab vs Ranibizumab as a Treatment for Type 1 ROP...
Retinopathy of Prematurity Both EyesRetinal Disease2 moreThe Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is one of the leading causes of blindness on the pediatric age worldwide. This pathology is characterized for arrest of the normal vascular and neuronal retina that because of pathological compensatory mechanisms results in proliferation of vascular tissue that grow in the limit between the vascular retina and the avascular retina. The ET-ROP group classified the ROP by those who need treatment immediately or those who doesn't need treatment, The classification is the following Type 1 ROP-->ROP zone I any stage with plus, zone I stage 3 without plus, zone II stage 2 y 3 with plus Type 2 ROP --> Zone 1, Stage 2 or 3 without plus, and Zone II, stage 3 without plus. The treatment is begun on patient with type 1 ROP and type 2 ROP is maintained in observation.

Nifty Feeding Cup Versus Generic Medicine Cup Preterm Infants Who Have Difficulty Breastfeeding...
Infant,PrematureFeeding; Difficult1 moreThe investigators will establish an evidence base for the Nifty Feeding Cup by evaluating its effectiveness and caregiver satisfaction. The investigators will conduct a randomized crossover trial that compares the Nifty Feeding Cup to a standardized, generic medicine cup used to feed preterm infants with breastfeeding difficulties at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana.

The Contribution of Parent-infant Interaction While Singing During Kangaroo Care, on Preterm-infants'...
PreTerm BirthStress ReactionThe current study will investigate the combination of the two modalities in a mixed-methods design, in order to provide comprehensive knowledge regarding the effects of family-centered MT during KC, on premature-infants' autonomic nervous system stability (measured by parasympathetic tone, physiological vital signs and behavioral states); Parents' anxiety levels; And parents' unique experiences of the intervention. Additionally, the study will analyze separately mothers and fathers to elucidate similar and different effects
