Are Newborns Conscious of the Placebo Effect? Result From an RCT in Osteopathy
PrematurityResults from previous studies suggest the association between Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and length of stay (LOS) reduction in a population of preterm infants. The primary objective of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of sham OMT in reducing LOS in a sample of preterm newborns, in order to investigate whether previous clinical results could be related to a hypothetical placebo effect.

Effectiveness of Femaltiker in Stimulation Lactation Among Mothers of Preterm Infants
Lactation InducedFemaltiker is a food for special medical purposes with a unique composition. Because beer, but not ethanol, has been reported in a number of studies to stimulate prolactin levels and breastmilk production, polysaccharide from barley was chosen as a potential galactogogue. To verify our assumption, a randomized, double blinded research with placebo was performed. The study was conducted according to good clinical practice and 10% of output data was audited by the outside monitor. The research was conducted from 14 April 2014 to 7 October 2015 in two NICUs with consent of the ethics committee on Medical Warsaw University.

BPD Saturation TARgeting
Bronchopulmonary DysplasiaChronic Lung Disease of Prematurity1 moreBronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), or chronic lung disease of prematurity, affects nearly half of extremely preterm infants. This study evaluates the use of supplemental oxygen to manage infants with established BPD. Participants will be randomly placed in either a higher oxygen saturation group or a lower oxygen saturation target group.

Mentors Offering Maternal Support (M-O-M-S™): A Prenatal Program for Decreasing Maternal Anxiety...
Anxiety FearPrenatal Depression4 moreThe M-O-M-S project evaluates the effectiveness of the M-O-M-S program for improving birth outcomes and maternal-infant attachment and role satisfaction in a large military sample.

Improving Right Ventricular Function in Young Adults Born Preterm
Infant,PrematureThe purpose of this research is to evaluate the short-term effects of sildenafil and metoprolol on heart function in young adults born premature.

Respiratory Physiotherapy Change Premature Pain With Pneumonia
PrematurePneumonia2 moreObjective to evaluate the effects of vibration techniques and acceleration of expiratory flow on pain parameters in preterm infants diagnosed with pneumonia hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit. The Method is a descriptive and interventional study, in which 28 PTNB were randomly divided into two groups: Group 1 submitted to the vibration technique and Group 2 - to the acceleration of the expiratory flow, both techniques were applied in an interval of up to ten minutes, for Three consecutive days. The pain indicators were evaluated according to the PIPP scale in three moments. For statistical analysis, the Friedman tests and Variance Analysis were applied, the level of significance adopted was 5%.

Repercussions of Respiratory Physiotherapy in Preterm Infants Under Mechanical Ventilation
Preterm BirthRespiratory diseases are a major morbidity and mortality causes of neonatal requiring mechanical ventilation, especially in newborn preterm infants (PN), thus respiratory therapy becomes increasingly necessary in order to minimize the effects of complications and improve respiratory functions, increasing mucociliary transport with techniques that consist of manual maneuvers to bronchial hygiene, such as vibro associated with postural drainage and prolonged slow exhalation. Objective: To compare and analyze the effects of convensional physiotherapy (CP) versus prolonged slow exhalation (PSE) in heart rate (HR), and respiratory rate (RR), O2 saturation (SpO2) and Tidal Volume (TV), time permanence of mechanical ventilation (TMV) and number of extubation failure (EF) in premature infants on mechanical ventilation (MV). Methods: Randomized clinical trial conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit of the General Hospital Itapecerica da Serra Seconci OSS SP, comparing two physical therapy techniques applied to preterm infants on mechanical ventilation.

Catheter Ablation Versus Amiodarone for Therapy of Premature Ventricular Contractions in Patients...
Heart DiseasesCardiomyopathies1 moreFor therapy of symptomatic premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) in subjects with structural heart disease the current European Guidelines for the management of patients with ventricular arrhythmias and the prevention of second cardiac death recommend catheter ablation as well as amiodarone with a class IIa indication. Due to the lack of randomized data this study investigates the comparison of catheter ablation and amiodarone for PVC treatment in patients with structural heart disease. Therefore, patients will be randomized to one of two treatment strategies: 1) catheter ablation, or 2) amiodarone.

Mother and Late Preterm Lactation Study
BreastfeedingPostnatal Depression3 moreBreastfeeding has various benefits for the mother and infant. It has the capability of reducing the risk of short term and long term problems for the infant, such as gastroenteritis, respiratory infections, type II diabetes and obesity, and of providing benefits for neurodevelopment. Breast milk offers even greater benefits for preterm infants. Some of the advantages of breastfeeding are related to the constituents of breast milk such as the macronutrients and bioactive factors, the hormones associated with breastfeeding such as oxytocin, and the behavioural aspects of breastfeeding (maternal sensitivity to infant cues). Despite these advantages, breastfeeding rates are below target levels mainly due to the challenges that women face that hinder breastfeeding success. Interventions aimed at improving policies, practices, and maternal support have been developed. However, other interventions that target specific modifiable barriers to breastfeeding can be useful. The aim of this study is to investigate a simple support intervention for breastfeeding mothers of late preterm and early term infants on maternal stress reduction and infant weight gain. The investigators also aim to study the potential mechanisms by which this effect could be achieved (breast milk composition and volume, mother and infant behaviour).

Filgrastim for Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
Premature Ovarian FailureFilgrastim is a Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating factor (G-CSF). It is an FDA approved drug. Very small embryonic-like stem cells (VSELs) are found in the ovary. Animal studies showed that these cells are able to regenerate the affected ovary. Studies on mice have shown that Filgrastim result in recovery of oogenesis after chemotherapy-induced gonadal failure (in 2013, 2014, and 2015).
