Prevalence of Self-reported Premenstrual Syndrome and Analysis of Somatic and Psychoemotional Symptoms...

Premenstrual Syndrome

In Brazil there are few published studies that study, the prevalence, symptoms and the population's knowledge about the premenstrual syndrome of women of reproductive age, and that correlate these data with the sociodemographic conditions of these women. In addition, given the complexity of the diagnosis of PMS, the prevalence of PMS in the Brazilian female population may be lower than the self-reported and published in these works, since not all women who believe they suffer from PMS fully comply with the criteria contemplated in the consensus for diagnosis of PMS. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the prevalence and intensity of frequent symptoms of PMS reported by the Brazilian female population. The information generated with this study may help to rethink behaviors to improve the health and quality of life of these women, as well as offer tools for decision making related to the need for early and effective treatment of PMS, whose disorders are associated with both the fall present and future quality of life for women, as well as all of their family, social and professional coexistence.

Comparison of the Prophylactic Effect Between Acupuncture and Acupressure on Menstrual Migraine...

Menstrual Migraine

This study is designed to make comparisons between acupuncture and acupressure for preventing menstrual migraine (MM). Whether acupuncture is superior to acupressure is the most interesting point of this study. First of all, females will be screened for eligibility. Then, all participants who meet the inclusion criteria will be asked to keep a headache migraine diary for three months as baseline data. The diaries will then be collected before the first treatment. Then, all the participants will receive the corresponding interventions on the eighth, fifth and second days before the estimated first day of menstruation (determined individually from the diaries) in each month for three months (menstrual cycle), making a total of nine treatment sessions. After the whole treatments, there will be a three-month follow-up period. All the participants will be asked to complete the headache diaries every month from baseline to the end of the study. The diaries recording data from the fourth to the ninth month will then be collected at the end of the ninth month for the second time indicating the end of the study for the participants. In case of an acute migraine attack, participants will not be restricted from using "normal" medications.

Combined Hormone Replacement in Menstrually-Related Mood Disorders

Premenstrual SyndromeDepression

This study investigates the effects on symptoms of combined treatment with estrogen and progesterone in women with severe premenstrual syndrome (PMDD). Studies indicate that women with PMS experience improvement in symptoms following treatment with leuprolide acetate, when estrogen and progesterone levels are low. Women with PMS, but not women without the disorder, experience a return of symptoms within approximately a week after re-exposure to either estrogen or progesterone. The cause of this hormone-induced depression remains unclear. It is not known whether this depressed mood is due simply to the change in the levels of estrogen and progesterone and whether it would remit following continued exposure to stable levels of estrogen and progesterone. This study will determine whether the maintenance of stable hormone levels will prevent mood disturbances in women with PMS. Participants in this study will receive leuprolide acetate injections once a month for up to 6 months. After 2 months, women whose symptoms have improved will receive a skin patch containing either estrogen or placebo (an inactive substance) and will be asked to take daily suppositories containing either progesterone or placebo. Women whose symptoms of PMS do not respond to leuprolide treatment after 2 months will end the study and be offered other treatment. Participants will be seen by a nurse in the clinic every two weeks and will fill out ratings and have blood drawn to measure hormone levels.

Efficacy and Safety of Nerivio for the Acute Treatment of Menstrual Migraine

Menstrual Migraine

Post-marketing, retrospective, observational survey study. Users (menstruating women only) of Nerivio who have used Nerivio at least 4 times between October 2019 and December 2020 will be contacted by email and/or through an app notification and will be asked to complete a 5-minute online anonymous survey assessing satisfaction, effectiveness, and safety. Frovatriptan and Menstrual Migraine

FrovatriptanMenstrual Migraine

We are looking for women who suffer from menstrual migraine to participate in a 2-visit migraine brain imaging research study. Our goal is to see how the menstrual migraine brain's pain pathways function when the migraineur has been taking Frovatriptan. During the screening visit (Visit 1) participants will sign the informed consent form, complete questionnaires, meet with the study physician, and have QST (quantitative sensory testing: to determine your pain thresholds for a heat stimulus) performed. For Visit 2's MRI scan, subjects will be asked to lie very still while the scan is occurring. In some parts, they will not have to do anything, while in others they will be asked to rate pain and unpleasantness for brush and thermal stimuli. Participants are compensated for both visits.

Does Yoga Done To Women With Premenstrual Syndrome Affect Inflammation Parameters?

Premenstrual Syndrome

The menstrual cycle is one of the most important signs of a functioning reproductive system in women, but sometimes this cycle is associated with signs and symptoms that cause physical and psychological problems for women. Considering the high prevalence of PMS among women and the complications of this syndrome on work performance, social and interpersonal relationships and family, and its role in limiting education, social and economic progress in society, 8 weeks of online yoga exercises given online to female students were helpful in reducing PMS symptoms The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and effect on inflammation parameters. The study was planned as an interventional, single-blind, randomized controlled study. The sample size of this study was calculated based on the latest research available on the effect of exercise on PMS (Kamalifard et al.2017). A power analysis was performed in student PMS scores between exercise and control groups and to expect a difference of 80% strength and α = 0.50 and 30%. 80% power (1 - ß) minimum 18 students for each group, total 36 students will be included in the sample.

Premenstrual Syndrome and Physical Activity Self-Worth

Premenstrual Syndrome

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) negatively affects the quality of life of millions of women. PMS is a common cyclic disorder characterized by somatic, cognitive, emotional and behavioral symptoms that usually occurs in young and middle-aged women, lasts during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle and ends with the onset of menstruation.Studies have shown that women with high PMS symptoms are more inactive. Physical activity participation in women affects a wide spectrum of self-perceptions, including knowledge, social, and emotional self-perceptions. By determining which physical, emotional, social and academic/knowledge areas are affected by women, increasing their participation in physical activity can be achieved. The subject of the study is to determine the symptom severity of women with and without premenstrual syndrome and to examine how premenstrual syndrome affects physical activity self-worth.
