Papilloma Virus Vaccine Therapy in Treating Young Patients With Recurrent Papilloma of the Larynx...

Precancerous Condition

RATIONALE: Vaccines made from papilloma virus cells may make the body build an immune response to and kill papilloma cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of papilloma virus vaccine in treating young patients with recurrent papilloma of the larynx.

The Influence of TAP Block in the Control of Postoperative Pain After Laparotomy for Gynecological...

LeiomyomaPelvic Organ Prolapse4 more

This study evaluates the influence of the transversus abdominis plane block on the intensity of postoperative pain and the concentration of proinflammatory and pain factors after hysterectomy by laparotomy. The patients will be randomized in three groups. In the first group, patients will receive intravenous, systemic, multimodal analgesia. In the second group there will be patients in who will be given the TAP block. The TAP block will be given postoperatively before waking. It will be given bilaterally in the before mentioned anatomic region (the so-called lateral TAP block). In the third group there will be patients who will be treated with TAP block in addition to systemic, mutimodal analgesia. The research will be based on completing a questionnaire (VAS scale and QoR questionnaire) and taking peripheral blood out. We expect that the concentration of proinflammatory and pain factors in patients treated with a TAP block will be lower and the quality of recovery will be better than that of patients receiving standard analgesic therapy (systemic multimodal analgesia).

Jianpi Huoxue Recipe in Treating Gastric Premalignant Lesion

Gastric Precancerous Condition

This study had adopted the multi-center, randomized and controlled experiment design based on standardized mucosal biopsy and pathohistological operation, as well as therapeutic evaluation methodology. Meanwhile, patients diagnosed with chronic atrophic gastritis accompanying with low grade intraepithelial neoplasia and indefinite dysphasia (grade C2/C3 of Vienna classification) confirmed by gastroscopic histopathology were enrolled as the objects of study, while folic acid was used as the control. The therapeutic effect and safety of Jianpi Huoxue Recipe (Moluodan + Sanchi powder) in intervening the gastric Premalignant lesion were evaluated from the points of view of pathology, gastroscopy and symptoms. The elimination rate of intraepithelial neoplasia of gastric mucosa was expected to be improved by 9-12%. Moreover, high quality evidence-based medical evidence regarding traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in intervening gastric Premalignant lesion would be obtained, which could form the mature, propagable and effective scheme.

SGN-00101 in Treating Patients With Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

Precancerous Condition

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development of or treat early cancer. SGN-00101 may be effective in preventing the development of cervical cancer in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well SGN-00101 works in preventing cervical cancer in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and human papillomavirus.

Safety and Efficacy of an Ablation Catheter for the Treatment of Pancreatic Premalignant Cyctic...

Pancreatic CancerPancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor2 more

This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of new ablation catheter developed by MEDICAL TAEWOONG for the treatment of pancreatic premalignant and early malignant cystic lesion. The ablation is performed using EUSRA needle and radiofrequncy waves under ultrasound imaging. The method will be exaimened on patients who are candidates for surgical intervention and to examine the ability of the method to serve as an alternative to surgical intervention.

Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Hematological Cancer or Other Disorders

Graft Versus Host DiseaseLeukemia3 more

RATIONALE: Giving chemotherapy, such as fludarabine, busulfan, and cyclophosphamide, together with antithymocyte globulin before a donor stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer and abnormal cells. Giving chemotherapy before or after transplant also stops the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. The donated stem cells may replace the patient's immune cells and help destroy any remaining cancer and abnormal cells (graft-versus-tumor effect). Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can also make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil after the transplant may stop this from happening. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well stem cell transplant works in treating patients with hematological cancer or other disorders.

Erlotinib in Treating Patients With Barrett Esophagus

Esophageal CancerPrecancerous Condition

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. Erlotinib may keep esophageal cancer from forming in patients with Barrett esophagus by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well erlotinib works in treating patients with Barrett esophagus.

Photographic Evidence of Oral Precancerous Lesions in Current Tobacco and Areca Nut Users Improves...

Precancerous Conditions

The success of tobacco and areca nut cessation programs in individuals with Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders (OPMDs) is imperative for risk reduction and prevention of oral cancer. A prospective pilot interventional study where 200 participants with current tobacco and areca nut habits and OPMD were randomly divided in two groups. Group A ( n=100; Habit cessation counselling with general and medical management for OPMD). Group B ( n=100; Habit cessation counselling with general and medical management for OPMD and visual exposure to personal intraoral photographs of oral lesions at baseline and review).

Endoscopic Evaluation of Premalignant Lesions in the Biliary Tract and Pancreatic Ducts

Benign Neoplasm of Liver and/or Biliary DuctsNeoplasm of Uncertain Behavior of Biliary System2 more

Single operater pancreatico-cholangioscopy is performed through the working channel of conventional duodenoscopes. A visual evaluation of the biliary and pancreatic ductal systems is completed and obvious or suspicious macroscopic lesions are targeted by biopsy forceps. Evaluation of the usefulness of probe based confocal laser endomicroscopy in the evaluation of suspected premalignant lesions in the biliary duct and in the pancreas.

Pilot Study In Vivo Confocal Microscopy Probe for Cervical Precancer

Precancerous ConditionCervical Cancer

The goal of this proposal is to determine whether a hand-held confocal microscopy probe may perform better than standard methods in detecting cancer or pre-cancerous abnormalities of the cervix. The confocal probe will provide invivo histopathology-like images of cell morphology and three-dimensional tissue architecture non-invasively in real time.
